RE: Are the Chat Room Mods REALLY necessary?

Peacemale, the inflamatory comments I was talking about were not from your recent boot, they were made several months ago. They were directed at me even though I was not the one who had booted your friend earlier. Your comments led others to attack me simply because I was a mod.

There is option to block PMs, just not all know how to use it. Another problem is sometimes they occur so fast a person gets flustered by them.

As I stated previously, if someone had to keep blocking people because of rude remarks, it takes away from the pleasure of coming to chat and they will leave.

As far as the face on cam rule, when you talk to someone in person, do you look at their face or at their crotch? The rules for chat are simply a restatement of proper social behaviour. I would venture to say that if someone behaved at a resort the way they behave in chat, those that get booted from chat would be banned from ever returning to that resort and possibly any resort if they behaved that way at a resort.

RE: Are the Chat Room Mods REALLY necessary?

Tx, the last time I was in chat the PMs came in so fast that it bogged down the window, made everything start blinking - totally wigged the system out several times; I wasn't able to finish the one conversation I had started and I couldn't even get to any of the controls to set them to "no PMs".... I finally had to just dump out of the chat room altogether, and I haven't been back since...

I am sorry that that happened, it just proved my point. I don't know why some can't get it through their heads that that kind of action drives people away. Some people disable PMs as soon as they come into room, hopefully before they are noticed if that helps any. Would love to see you back in chat.

You have to laugh at these losers who can't interact with women face to face, and have to resort to harassing them over the internet. I'm certainly not every woman's dream guy, but my God, it's so easy to strike up a respectful conversation in person. These guys must all be social misfits.

RE: Are the Chat Room Mods REALLY necessary?

Tx, I remember getting angry with the idea of mods, and "attacking
you". And you handled it the way a quality mod would - with a logical
response and I appreciated it. You didnt BOOT me, nor did you threaten
to, as you used proper discretion.

With regards to crotch shots, I agree
that those should not be allowed on a "stand alone" basis. I was
referring to someone like myself who used to not show face, nor crotch
(see my main image). Ya see, I like being nude - socially - but not
necessarily broadcasting on the internet. So I used to cheat a little
by broadcasting some, but not all of me. Nothing lude. Yet to use my
previous analogy, the "hall monitors" would ask to see my "hall pass" -
because those are the rules (which in that instance served no purpose).
In
regards to turning PM's off, perhaps instead of having only rules
posted prior to entering the chat room, you might reinforce that members
have the right and ability to block all PM's, and to not watch any cam
they are not comfortable watching. PM's will happen. And you can hardly
blame a guy for PMing another member - I dont belive the previous
poster indicated that these PM's were out-of-line (and its unfair to
assume they were), just that there were too many.
I may also
mention to the other members that their disdain for the "losers" that
cant speak to women except for the internet make no sense as applied to
this site. At any given time, there is less than 5% of chat room users
who are women (so if you are joining the chat room, there is a good
chance you have come to chat with men).
Lastly, for what its
worth, I am also a member of another site, I will NOT mention the site
name, with a smaller population of mostly women - and some men. No
mods, and a terrifically supportive and respecting community of adults.
Perhaps this is why I get frustrated with the uninformed and accusatrory
assertions of some members of this site who believe nirvana is achieved
with a firm policing against anyone with a varying view - be it a
"perverted" one or not.
The site already contains all the
tools you need to promote a quality supportive online community - it
does not need the presence of moderators to further impede the progress
of this developing community.

pa: sorry for my terrible formatting. It seems it takes me too long to type my response, and I lose my sign-in. When I repost the copied version, the format goes whacky. I try to edit , but no use.

RE: Are the Chat Room Mods REALLY necessary?

Peace - The few times I have been to chat I have always gotten a lot of requests for private contact info, to go on cam to Yahoo, and quite frequent veering into inappropriate subject content...... There are a lot of trolls hanging out there, as well as a lot of nice people....

Cear, my guess is that its because you are one of the few attractive women, or just one of the few women, in the chat room - do the math. If unwanted, just block all PM's. That way you can still engage in the chat room discussion. Oh, but you wont be able to send any PM's - but doesnt seem like you have a need for that anyhow, so you should be ok.

Turning off private messages is only for recieving. You can still send PMs. Also even if you have them turned off, a moderator can still send you a message. This is usefull because a moderator can still send a warning to someone even if they are not paying attention to the chat room.
