In 1972 I was wishing (and eventually praying) for pubic hair to hide my stuff in the gym shower! How things have changed - now I shave all that fur off and let it show show show. And wasn't that the year streaking became a big thing? Other than that, an uneventful year for this self-centered nudie in the making.
Holy crap ~ I just wiki'ed streaking and got seriously schooled up on earlier nudist activity. It's just like me to think we'd come up with something new that had in fact been going on for an extremely long time. The first documented streaking incident on a college campus comes from my own state back in 1804 at Washington College (now Washington & Lee University), with the bare deed done by a future US congressman! I recall that UVa (btw, I'm from Charlottesville) fourth year students still commonly streak the lawn the night before graduation, and it seems that many other places of higher learning have similar traditions. Some traditions should be kept alive and this is one!
Did you know there was a Christian sect in northern Africa called the Adamites who worshiped nude as far back as the second century? I go to church nude most every week but had no idea nude worship went so far back. Never too old to learn!
As always, I highly recommend at least a second source when wikipedia is the first.
I was 12 back in '72. My older cousins were drafted to go to Nam. Lots of chatter from my aunts with all kinds of worries if they would make it back home. The morning causality reports on the radio every morning burn in my mind and made me sad as a young tyke. In the end the guy that was a mentor to me and helped me in my trade even all the while being a friendly competetor died a proud Navy Vet of a silent killer from his Nam tours.
Luann and I paid him back the best we could possibly do by supplying him our employees and what ever it he needed as he fought the agent orange cancer. No wonder we lost our minds when our #3 son was deployed when the North Korea conflict got hot. Not a very uplifting post but that was my 1972.
I had just graduated from H.S and was working a job delivering medication carts to Nursing Homes around the county. Diane was born this year in Oklahoma. What i remember the most was buying my first car, a gold colored 1962 Oldsmobile Super88 that was in excellent condition. My two best friends were carless at the time so we made many a trip in my car to social gatherings in and around town.
