I know it can be a scary thing to do (at first) but it's a good idea to get certified. The images you submit for that remain private.
Go to the Forum and read posts. Find something you can add to and post a reply.
Read through other people's profiles. If you see an image you like, then "like" it.
Look through the groups and find some to join.
If you see someone who might make a good friend, send them a friend request -- be sure to tell them why you want to be their friend.
