I had forgotten about this post since it was posted 4 years ago. However in the interim Pope John Paul II has been canonized by the Catholic Church as Saint John Paul II. I hope this movement gains momentum.
As an interesting side note: Did you know that there is a Patron Saint for prostitutes? It is none other that our beloved St. Nicholas. He was noted for giving money to young women who were in dire straits in order to keep them out of the practice of prostitution. Thus we have the practice of giving gifts in the name of St. Nicholas or Santa Claus.
I've done some research on the issue of Patron Saints and found some interesting facts. Any person or group may designate any Saint they desire to be their Patron Saint. There is no formal investiture involved. People can adopt a personage whose life is full of examples that personify a particular point of view. As more and more people of similar minds adopt a Saint as their Patron, eventually the designation will come to be recognized universally. As for nudism; I believe that Saint John Paul II wrote favorably on the subject and perhaps indulged in social nudism himself. Regardless of whether he practiced social nudism himself, his life and writings are a testament in the goodness of man and worthy to be emulated. Therefore, I am personally adopting Saint John Paul II as my Patron Saint for nudism and I urge all nudists to do the same. I am planning to write to AANR and TNS and suggest that also formally adopt this man as their official Patron Saint of Nudists. I believe that this action will tend to unite nudists as no other thing has done in the past. Remember that this action does not force anyone to adopt a new religion or change their religious beliefs. It really says that we're nudists and we are people and we deserve to be respected just as anyone else. Now we just have a Patron whose ideals we can follow. Does that make sense? Please let me know your thinking on this. DesertRat.

It's easy. You just say that he is the Patron Saint of nudists.

To anyone you feel like telling. You can tell anyone on TN if you desire. It's up to you, you decide who to say it to or don't tell anyone. It can be your secret or you can write a letter to the editor of your local paper and announce it there. If you don't feel comfortable with the concept then don't reveal it to any one.
