Hike in yuma az?
So I took a solo hike listed on alltrails as Fortuna Peak - WII B17 crash site. This is a mile round hike. Watch the direction to get to the trail head. Mapping took me on the freeway to the border patrol checkpoint, not the frontage south of it. After going back to the correct parking location, I set out. There was only one vehicle parked. The first 1/2 mile was open desert with no scub to block the view. Getting to the scrub I was able to freehike. Total trail is 6 miles round trip. I lost trail several times as I was looking around. The all trails mapping let me find my way back each time. At 2 1/2 miles in the elevation change was 800 feet in a half mile. I decided not to finish as it was also rocky, I preferred an additional hiker for safety. (I take a cell and ham radio with me.) Never saw the other vehicles occupants, but I did see 3 desert 4 wheelers who could have also seen me from their ridge. After a rest I went back. 4 miles of freehiking was needed and enjoyed. Don't forget sunscreen, hat, water, and snacks.
77 degrees, sunny, soft breezes, and almost no shade.
