My thoughts on clothing optional vs nudist
OK here are some thoughts. There are my thoughts only. I've been (luckily) going to Shangri La Ranch out here in the Phoenix area. It has been absolutely fantastic, I've never been to a resort this frequently and the more I go the more I want to be there. I get there around 4 times a week for somewhere around 2 to 3 hours each time (usually mid day) and BTW my all over tan is outstanding I'm very proud of it.
The highlight of each visit is the fantastic stroll I take around the entire grounds. If it were up to me I would stroll around the entire time I'm there, the beautiful feeling of walking around without clothes is great!
Every time I visit, I take my clothes off as soon as I get in the car, and I don't put them back on until I get back to my residence. It is another awesome aspect of the visit.
So the thing I discovered is that this particular resort is "clothing optional" not nudist. Now I know for newbies that is an attraction because they are hesitant etc. But for me, I would definitely prefer a nudist resort. There are a fair number of people who have various states of clothes on, and for me I would prefer everyone to be nude like me.
There are some Russian-style sex segrated banyas in Chicago which are clothing optional. Around 15 years ago the patrons transitioned from being mostly naked to sheet-wrapped. Now I feel less comfortable being naked there since I'm in the minority and unwilling to bathe with textile interference. It's easier if everyone is just naked and men don't have to second-guess what others think about them.
If I had my druthers, I'd live in a clothing-optional world. Where each person is free to choose what, if anything, to wear. Even at a resort, I appreciate the opportunity to choose -- I always choose to be nude. That, notwithstanding, I would prefer that everyone chooses to be nude.
Events held at my house are not clothing-optional. They are nudity required. I do not permit spectators. Each person has the opportunity to choose whether or not to attend.
From the perspective of a resort owner, the best option is the one that attracts the most paying customers. My guess would be that a good approach would be to have the area closest to the entrance clothing-optional, but if someone cares to venture further, the clothing must come off. This would be similar to many websites that allow non-paying visitors some access to the site, but if you want to use the better parts, you have to pay.
Something that seems odd to me is that some people talk about wanting the CHOICE to be clothes free then immediately want to tell others what their CHOICE ought to be. Maybe thats why so many outside of the practice dont find nudists credible. Just a thought

Exactly so appreciate everyone is different and unique instead of trying to force nudity. Arent we saying the same thing to mainstream society acknowledge our difference and dont force your clothing choice on us

I often go to Gunnison which is a clothing optional beach. The vast majority of the people are nude. Most of the ones who are wearing anything are either with someone who is nude and/or wearing too little for other nearby beaches (bottom only for women and thongs for anyone).
Appreciate the answers. Couple of things:
1) It is absolutely not a temperature thing, it's in the 80s and 90s here in the Phoenix area.
2) I'm not saying I want to tell people what to do at a clothing optional resort, it is what it is (and I love being there). I'm just saying for me, a nudist resort is preferable.

Im not sure if weve ever been to a nudity required area, other than in the pool itself at just about every resort weve been to. I can say I almost always opt for fully nude including on our Bare Necessities cruises which are the most likely C/O venues to have a high number of clothed people, especially in the evening when groups are heading to/from the main dining room which does require clothes. For me the experience of being nude in new situations is more interesting than being in a nude required area. My number one place on my list is La Jenny in France. Not because it is nude required (which I think it is) but because I would be able to play a round of golf nude. Weve gone grocery shopping at Club Orient but it would be interesting to be able to spend a day nude doing other errands like going to the bank or just walking around town. These options do exist in places like Ile du Levant (the naked island) and Cap dAgde (the naked city) and Id like to try them. They are both clothing optional (other than the beach at Levant which could end up the first nudity required place we ever visit if we get there before La Jenny) but would be higher on my list than a nude required resort. Basically we dont ever inquire whether nudity is required when we make our plans. As long as it is allowed were good.

Agreed. As for me, I would prefer that when I'm naked, other people will be naked as well. But I would rather have them clothed or partially clothed and comfortable with my nudity than naked and uncomfortable. And the discomfort could be due to climate or their own hesitation to be nude. It doesn't matter. I figure that if they're in a nude environment, they at least show an interest in nudism.
And the starers. I haven't seen a lot of them in the resorts, but I expect that you'd see them more at nude beaches, especially when the beaches are conjoined with textile ones and it's easier for them to wander off their beach onto ours. But here's the thing: the more nudity they see, the less likely they are to consider nudity fascinating for its sake alone. Sooner or later, they realize that they're not going to see the sculpted, bronzed, sexy bodies they've seen in the pornos or their fantasies or wherever. They see us. I'll bet they'll just be disappointed, get bored, and move away. But there may be one in hundred who thinks "That could be me. I could do that." And that person is the one we're looking for to join us.
