Recharging time is getting longer, ughhh!

I think it is probably happening to all of us but possibly at different rates. Just made a quick almost unplanned run to help with the new grandchild. She had shown up about 4 weeks early and pushed existing plans into fast forward. Luckily, the wife had gone up (600 miles by air) a few days earlier to start getting ready but was still recovering from an earlier trip. Suffice it to say that she was the lone help mate. That said, she called for reinforcements and that meant *come now*! I quickly packed a small multi night bag and got on the interstate. The first 2/3rds were big road while the last was two lane state roads. In past years, I could do this, show up and help a little and be good-to-go the next morning; my how times have changed. It took about half the next day to get moving but was good after a stretch. Does this sound like anyone else?

At first glance I thought it was about your cell phone and I am thinking HEY same here! Brother if it wasn't for my wife carrying and me faking it for a lot O years it would not have happened . One can only fake it for so long as it seems.

My mind and heart tell me, "oh hell, you can do that!" The body is usually truthful and will make you pay for the mind and heart's lies. We force ourselves to get up and move around and pick a project to work on each day, even if it's just 30 mins to 1 hr. But there are days when we just sit on our naked butts and do nothing, and that's okay with us too!

Ive paid for that doing a transmission or clutch at work, or splitting fire wood for my dad.

But Andy sitting around doing nothing at times, isnt that what retirement is for?

I talked to a gentleman just a few years older than I that recently retired. He had been very active his entire life and found that he could not just stop. I asked him what he found worked best? He said that every day he went out and worked somewhat vigorously for at least an hour. He said it really didnt matter what he was doing but he had to be making a real effort. When I finally really retire, I think Ill be lucky if its O N L Y an hour or so. My projects list is large and it matches my 6 acre yard. I think I might just have to re-evaluate when the time comes! =)

If I had had my way, we would have moved onto acreage out here. Instead, we moved into another tract home. Still enough to do but we're pretty much finished with all the projects that give me any real exercise. Several acres would have provided me with more than enough to do and keep me busy.

For me, retiring meant that I could schedule my projects and "honey do's" on my own timeline and not in between my days off from the fire house. I tend to spread the projects out, so I don't finish them all and then am sitting front of the computer all day! haha

Rock, all the old electric razors that I know of have not only slowed down but almost stopped. You arent insinuating that Andy is having issues, are you? I hate to admit it, but its happening to us all! Ughhh. LOL.

OH... I have issues but only one of them is slowing down! LOL

I usually refer to the ol' joke between Di and me.

Di; "what are you doing today?"

Me; "nothing!"

Di" "you did that yesterday."

Me; "I'm not done yet."

:D

Thats a good one. I going to borrow it for future use myself. Hopefully, infrequent use but you never can tell.
