A reply and a RECON update:
Minimalist, if you don't have any underwear to donate then I guess YOUR minimum number of items could be reduced to three: some old flip-flops, some old shorts and an old t-shirt. LOL. But, regardless of the number of items donated, I think you may find that the THRILL of the dare actually begins when you FIRST remove an item to toss in the donation bin. The GOAL, of course, is to get NAKED, but the ACT of stripping off your clothes should be (?) part of the FUN.
Having your community's only donation bin located next to the local cop-shop could be a real problem! OR... is could ADD a real challenge to getting the dare done! It might depend on the size of your police force and how well manned the police station might be in the late night hours. In my opinion, it would be a BIG bonus to include the cop-shop in the photos of the dare being accomplished! Just sayin'! Only YOU can decide on that particular risk factor! And, of course, the suggestion that there may be opportunities in OTHER communities is something you should look into.
Recon Report:
Yesterday I had a chance to drive by the shopping center and check out the donation bins in the parking lot. It turns out that I was wrong! BOTH the donation bins are from St. Vincent's, not that THAT really matters. The bin located at the back of the shopping center is a BIT better located than the one across from McDonald's for doing the dare, so I will probably try to that one (first?).
I haven't been able to line up my wingman/photographer yet...but it's early days. He should be responding to my message soon.
I'm REALLY looking forward to doing this dare!

My normal number of items I wear when driving in summer is1, shorts. I do generally have a shirt and sandals in the car because I will need the to get into the place where I am going or need to make a rest room stop along the way.
I have gone to a drive through fast food restaurant or bank with no clothing except the shorts I am wearing in the car.

If you can't find a photographer consider setting up your camera or phone in video mode and then taking the best frame grabs from the footage.
Jim-Marie-Yardart, doing the dare in another town is DEFINITELY something to consider! There is a town close by that I visit on occasion. The next time I'm out that way I will have to see if I can locate any donation bins in any of the parking lots around town. Thanks for the suggestion.Johngw, I enjoy driving nude, too, and have done some fairly long drives (3 hours up and down the freeway). Doing selfies while driving just requires the usual care and attention to the road while framing the photo and driving at the same time.It seems to me that photographing the donation bin dare using a camera mounted on a tripod (and thus eliminating the need for a wingman) would be too time consuming. First one would have to drive to the location, determine the right spot for the camera, set up the tripod and camera, and then walk to the car. Once back at the car, one could begin stripping and discarding clothes, while pausing every once in a while to activate the shutter (via remote control), or at least activate the camera ONCE, if using a phone to create a video of the event. Either way, once the dare is complete, one would have to go and collect the camera and tripod before getting BACK in the car and driving away. I may be wrong, and please feel free to correct me if I am, but that process seems waaaay to long. It would seem easier to simply enlist the help of an accomplice. It ALSO occurred to me that the NUMBER of items being donated could add to the duration of the dare. Shoes, socks, pants, underwear, shirt, each taking a few seconds to remove and place in the bin? Each placed in the bin INDIVIDUALLY or all tossed in all at once? Would the bare (no pun intended) minimum be an old pair of thongs, some old shorts and an old t-shirt?I wonder if you can tell that I'm having a blast just working on the planning and the logistics??? LOL.
Simple answer is use a smart phone camera on a selfie stick, thats how i take the majority of my pictures, thus eliminating the need to set up a camera
Johngw & Stancheshire, using a phone camera to chronicle the event is a GOOD IDEA, however, in and of itself, it does't reduce the exposure time factor nor the perspective.
Johngw, setting up a phone camera STILL requires setting it up... and THEN going and retrieving it. And, of course, AFTER doing the dare, one would have to retrieve the phone camera NUDE. When minimizing exposure time is almost as important as doing the dare, the tripod option is still less desirable than having a wingman.
Stan, using a phone camera on a selfie stick has some inherent problems of its own. For example, how do you hold onto a selfie stick AND frame a photo WHILE you are taking off your clothes to put in the donation bin?
And a FINAL HURDLE, for an old troglodyte like ME, is: downloading and editing the video.
I appreciate the comments, the tips, AND the input... but I guess I'll just have to WAIT until my sidekick replies to my request that he join me. I feel EXTREMELY confident that he will be more than happy to do the dare with me....WHEN we can work out the timing and details!
A friend of mine wants to do a dare with me. He would drive me to one of those clothing donation bins where I would strip naked and put the clothes in the bin. From there he would leave me there for a while, maybe drive me around naked or, if the bin was close enough make me walk back naked. Has anyone ever done anything like this?
Wow this sounds like a great dare, just need to find a clothing donation bin not too far away
As far as setting up the camera, etc. I have found that a clip-style camera mount clipped on a half-open car window is the best bet for this sort of dare and using the camera set to take lots of pictures at 1, 2, 5 or ten-second intervals is a good substitute for the video technique.
The two advantages are that most of the setting up can be done at leisure inside the parked car and afterwards you only need to jump in the car and drive off, stopping later to de-mount the camera.
You can delete all the unwanted pictures later (or keep them if you prefer).
I'll try to get a picture of my set-up to attach to this post as a guide.
Having put some thought into this dilemma, i have decided on a selection of all your suggestions, i am proposing to use my phone, attached to the car on a sucker or clip cradle, and use the remote button from my selfie stick, which i can click for pictures or to start a video
