Why are clothes required anywhere?

This question is not facetious nor is it intended to be flippant. Rather, it is the outgrowth of a conversation that I recently with a 20-year friend of mine. I had decided to ask several friends and neighbors whether they would object of be offended if I decided to become a nudist in and around our homes here in Flagstaff. (Yes, I do know that from about October through March or so it is too cold to not wear any clothes.) Well, to my surprise, two of my neighbors objected; one of them even insisted that she "would call the police if she EVER saw me outdoors naked. My question is, "Why should you care Jane (not her real name) ... have you ever been to a nudist ranch?" Her reply was stated indignantly and it was, "No I have not because I a certain decorum." So what is it about our social situation that prohibits men and women from being out in public with nothing but head and/or feet covered?

RE:Why are clothes required anywhere?

Good question ! I would have loved to hear from Jane about why she could not watch. Decorum aside. I am surprised that more people dont understand about it. We have been programmed to wear textiles.

Yes we should wear protective gear. But Fashion ! Oh its the hottest style for this year ! People are beautiful with out clothes on. The freedom to not have to wear this or that. But I wonder if it is a response to nature.
Decorations ! Birds with the brightest feathers. Or collecting things to entice a mate. But then there is other animals that just use (Farrah moans) (voice to text) lol. Pheromones signal its time for mating. But thats a invisible way of getting noticed. Then wearing clothes or something would hide the scent. There is a theory that pubic hair is for holding the pheromones close to the body.
Hmmm something to think about around the water cooler today at work. I wonder who will take up the debate or make the first joke ? At least till the boss asks what everyone is talking about. lol

RE:Why are clothes required anywhere?

Clothes are a rather recent addition to the story of human, especially if you include the other species which predate homo sapiens. I'm not going to dig into heavy research right now about where clothes were first 'discovered', besides our predecessors obviously having to don the fur of animals for warmth and protection from the elements -- something I'm pretty sure was being done long before all of our ancestors strode out of Africa (if that's still the prevailing theory).

We've come a long way now, but most of the world's population still can't think much past their genitals. Hiding the 'provocative parts' from each other keeps our baser instincts from showing openly, since it seems apparent that most people - even some who claim to be nudists - cannot stop thinking of where they can put their dick next, or for the ladies, where is that tall, dark & handsome male they can sway their tail in front of to get that intense, pushy, pleasure principle knocking around inside their brain dealt with?

Making jokes is pretty easy about the subject of clothes, from this full time nudist's perspective. I think we need clothes out there in what we bare folks call the 'fake world' mostly due to instincts buried so deep in our brains that some will never be able to get past. We've already got enough women (and men) being assaulted daily in the clothed world. To start talking about allowing nudism everywhere is wacko. I do wish it wasn't the case, but there are too many people who cannot or will not control themselves to let it all hang out all the time.

Maybe some place where nudism is more normalized it could work, like in Germany, where modern, social nudism began to flourish in the last century. Or if some country wants to experiment with making everyone who reaches adulthood spend a government-sponsored, free month at a nude resort to get acclimatized to constant nudity, maybe we could expand the no-clothes lifestyle. I think not, but it's something pleasing to consider. The animal instinct still prevails in most of us.

RE:Why are clothes required anywhere?

Hi Jim - How are you and thanks for your reply to my query. I think that Jane would say "But what if you have an erection?" And I would have to reply, "And what if I do? It is completely natural." Let me ask you another question. When we were camped last summer, you were wearing a penis ring or cock ring and I don't remember what it was made if ... metal (to also go around your testicles) or rubber and on go over the shaft of your penis. I was looking at some penis rings earlier today and was faced with these choices and I told the saleslady that I would need to ask an expert. So can you help me and feel free to add sizing info if you have it. Thanks a lot!

Hi Wildwilly - Thanks and I read what you had to say with a great deal of interest. It sounds like you may have a bit of background in the art of anthropology.
