Nudity is legal in UK

To be totally clear nudity is legal in UK given some restrictions which for recreational naturism are always met.

This is all covered in documents agreed with the police by British Naturism (BN).

Sites:
https://www.bn.org.uk/files/file/739-legal-guides-public-place-naturism/
https://library.college.police.uk/docs/nudity.pdf

See the first two columns on page two of the Police College document.

Actions which are described as passive (sunbathing, walking, cycling,...) and the nude person is not intending to cause distress are legal and require the call handler to tell the complainer that no action is needed. It is not a matter of the complainer being distressed - it is what the nude person intends that matters.

Too often call handlers do not know the law and pass it on to police and then the Police don't know the law.

Until these errors by police are called out, we will not get our rights to be nude in these passive situations.

BN campaigns tirelessly and defends members successfully. Police do tend to make things up and fail to apply the Police College guidelines.

Oh damn, that's super cool!
I mean, not the call handlers or cops not knowing the law part, just that you all have that ability.

US is so damn far behind on so many things. Probably will stay that way beyond my lifespan. So many people here are so backwards (to put it mildly) in their world views and want everyone else to be just as terrible as they are.

That is very interesting and much what I had thought to be the case.

Ye i have done some reaserch into this and it seems its perfectly legal as long as it doesnt cause offence. Which is a bit ambiguous tbh as its down to the individual as to what is offensive. Overall not bad though, seen a few guys on here who cycle naked through towns and country lanes with minimal issues so thats a hood sign.

The trouble is the victim will be co horst in to saying they were shocked.
Police - were you shocked
Victim well no, but it's not something you see every day
Police so you were startled
Victim well sort of
Police so you were shocked
Victim well yeah............
but if you were dressed like a clown the same would apply...........
If the victim does not like what you do your nicked - fact

One officer told me that he would arrest me anyway. Sometimes its not just about what the book law says, but the attitude of mind of the individual officers concerned. Give individuals the power and in most cases it always turns out to be abusive. I never could get my head round how anyone could say the human body is indecent. It is a design that we get no say in and everybody is the same, male and female.

Basic nudity will not cause offence, having just read through the information, it might seem ambiguous, but isn't really. It's not down to what the individual finds offensive, you simply being naked is something they can find offensive, but under the Law simple nudity isn't breaking any law.

They are referring to you standing there with an erection, or openly masturbating, thrusting said erections at people to cause an actual offence, having sex in public etc. Any person simply being offended by you just being nude means that you are NOT breaking the Law, again, as long as you are not being lewd and shaking your penis at them to piss them off, no Law is being broken.

One person's word that they might be offended or find basic nudity distasteful, is not means for you to be arrested and the cops should know this, which is why it's worth carrying a copy of these pages with you when you are going to get naked at a location.

If said person tries to take pictures of you nude to report you to the cops, THEY are breaking the Law by invading your privacy and trying to prove their point that you were doing something other than being nude. Many people can't tell the difference between a normal sized penis to on that they might think is semi erect, we guys all know the difference ! Some men are just luckier than others in what they have.

The guidelines I have just downloaded are great. For example, if I was sunbathing nude in my own garden and a neighbour didn't like it, they could call the cops and try their BS to get me arrested, but when you show them the guidance from their own Police Force, there is nothing they can do.

Although your scenario is technically right, it's also wrong, which is why I say to download and print off the guidelines and keep a copy with you at all times. Someone could be offended at you farting in public, doesn't mean you are going to get arrested for it ! Same goes for basic nudity, it does not matter if said person acts all offended or startled, shocked, as long as you are not being lewd or waggling your woggle at them so as to cause actual offence, then you are free and clear to be naked as and when you want to.
