Just a random thought...
Saw a magazine today (I think it was Shape) with one of Kardashians in a bikini.
I wondered what would have happened, had the photo been nude instead. Would that have made it more sexual for an average male viewer? Probably.
But what if all women (and men, for that matter) on all magazine covers had been nude?
Then I bet the sexual aspect would have been gone very quickly. :-)

RE: Just a random thought...
Sure, but there is one point. Sex sells. So no matter whether nude or in bikini, or in other clothes, photographs for most magazines work to make their objects look sexually desirable for a viewer. Magazines portraying persons with authority (Business, Politics) also would face major problems how to portray their objects...
