Timeout error
It would be good if they actually contacted people to let them know whats happening then!
Not sure how they would provide notification for these outages as communication is usually through the site. Things started to degrade on April 5th (as far as I know) and were completely down early on April 6th (Eastern US time). All systems seem to be back to normal now (April 6th in the afternoon here).
Not very techy, in fact, a true Luddite, but seems like a banner could be put on the first open page that briefly describes the problem and that they are working on it. Or, the page with Timeout:30 could have included a message that the ... is not working but staff are trying to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. The site has been not working enough frequently that a boiler plate message would be advantageous to the administrators rather than getting a lot of messages, email or phone. After all, the customer comes first. And if they know it will be down for maintenance between 12:00 noon GMT and 4:00 pm GMT, let us know.
I have called repeatedly and left messages on their voicemail. Ive also emailed them repeatedly. No response.
I have been on this site long enough to know that calling, leaving messages on voicemail or emailing them about a technical problem is kind of like pissing into the wind and hoping to stay dry. While it would be nice for them to reply to the thousands of messages, I would prefer that they spend the time and resources to correct the problem
I just go to the 'report a bug' link at bottom of page and fill out the form. For the most part, unless it's a 'major' issue, they get resolved in about 24 hour period. Yes, it would be nice for site admis to post something about issues, but as with tech stuff, it is hard sometimes to say when things will be cleared up. A good example happen a few weeks back when suddenly I could not hear someone on my phone when I was at home. They could hear me but I couldn't hear them. Once I was away from home, about a 5 mile radius, everything was back to normal, but would happen in other areas sometimes. Several visits to the phone center and endless hours with tech support over a 3 week time period, it turned out that the upgrade to 5G was the issue and certain cell towers were not all at the same level of service to handle the 5G upgrades. After upgrading the towers, I need to punch a code into a specific phone text code and the phone would return back to normal.
