Cherokee, Crossville, TN - summer schedule

June 11: Crawfish & Shrimp Boil The crawfish boil is a traditional southern Louisiana social event! Our crawfish and shrimp will be boiled outside in a large pot and served with new red potatoes and corn on the cob. There will be plenty of cold beer and Zydeco music, and a themed DJ dance will follow.

June 18-19: Skinny Dipper Weekend Challenge your friends to a game of water volleyball. Relax by the pool or lounge by the lake. Every day is an adventure at Cherokee! Well have music and dancing at the pavilion Saturday night. What are you waiting for?

June 25-26: Trailblazer Weekend The World Naked Bike Ride will take place in major cities across the northern hemisphere in June. It seems like the perfect time to bike Cherokee's 9-mile trail! We even have a couple of rental bikes. If exercise isnt your thing, you can always work on your tan by the pool! There will be a dance in the lodge on Saturday night.

July 2: Elvis Tribute Show Now in its 36th year, (a week early for) Nude Recreation Week is an annual celebration sponsored by The Naturist Society. Well celebrate Nude Recreation Week early with a traditional Cochon de Lait festival, featuring a Cajun pig roast. The pig is roasted in the ground and served with baked beans, potato salad and cold beer. The big event will be a live show by one of the nation's premier Elvis tribute artists! Norm performed at Cherokee in 2007 and has performed at Elvis Week in Memphis and at Elvis tribute shows in Las Vegas!

July 30: Catfish Fry The legendary Cherokee Catfish Fry is back! Well fry catfish outside in a cast iron kettle, and serve it up with hush puppies, cole slaw, French fries and cold beer. A DJ dance will follow.

August 4-7: World's Longest Yard Sale Stretching from Hudson, Michigan to Gadsden, Alabama along the Highway 127 corridor, the Worlds Longest Yard Sale is headquartered right here on the Cumberland Plateau. Were minutes from Highway 127 and a perfect place to stay for a weekend of antique hunting!

August 20: Country Vittles Cookout Your choice of fried chicken or meatloaf, served with mashed potatoes, green beans, pea salad and corn bread. Well have bluegrass music and a DJ dance.

September 3: Old Timers Day Grind corn with a hit and miss engine and enjoy soup beans cooked outside in a cast iron kettle, along with corn bread, corn fritters and onions. A DJ dance will follow. Overalls are optional!

September 24: Cherokee Chili Cookoff Bring your best recipe to Cherokees annual Chili Cookoff. Well be cooking chili and cornbread outside in a black kettle. Best recipe wins two weekends of free ground fees, and the runner up wins 1 free weekend. A DJ dance will follow.

Whoever wins the Chili Cookoff needs to visit Serendipity for the East Coast Chili Cookoff usually held in January.

I will take advantage of this. Hopefully it will be a weekend you are there so I can meet you in person.

If it were closer, I'd be there regularly. However, due to financial situations, I cannot. Go and relax, have fun for Allen and me (in absentia). I always enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere when there.

On Saturday afternoon we'll be grinding corn with a hit and miss engine and serving soup beans cooked in a cast iron kettle, along with corn bread and onions. Please call to reserve your place so we'll know how much to make! As always, the regular menu will be available at the restaurant. We have everything from corndogs to steak dinners!
On Saturday night, "Elvis" is back on the grounds! Tribute artist Norm will entertain everyone with his selection of Elvis hits and other favorite oldies. Please note that there will be a $5 cover charge per person to attend this evening show.
On Sunday afternoon, guest illusionist The Magic Man will return with another spellbinding performance. He has a special surprise planned, so be sure to stick around! Please note that there will be a $5 cover charge per person to attend this show.

September 24: Brisket Cookout
Dust off your birthday suit and get ready to celebrate, because we're turning 20! We'll be serving beef brisket with baked beans, potato salad and rolls in addition to the regular menu items!

October 7: 15th Annual Cherokee Chili Cookoff
Bring your best recipe to Cherokees 15th Annual Chili Cookoff. The entry fee is $10. Well be cooking chili and cornbread outside in a black kettle. The best recipe wins two weekends of free ground fees, and the runner up wins 1 free weekend. After the contest, enjoy chili in the lodge. Bring your favorite cornbread or crackers! October: Fall Foliage Festival
This is the month to catch the autumn leaves at their peak! It's a great time to rent a cabin or lodge room or spend a weekend camping. Avoid the crowds and traffic of the Smokies and enjoy nature's beauty au natural! RV lots available!

October 29: Halloween Hootenanny
A spooky magic show and costume party will make this one unforgettable Halloween! Well have all kinds of traditional Halloween games and fun, so grab the gang and come on over to Cherokee!
