How long do you normally hold your poses?
Per my Ashtanga background, we hold all poses for 5 breaths. The exception are inversions that are held for 10-20 breaths. Scientifically, the stretch-reflex in most people lasts 20 seconds. So you have to get beyond that to really feel a stretch. But an experienced yogi can get to the stretch much more quickly, like a couple seconds. For me, 5 breaths is 25-30 seconds so this gets me in the ballpark. Thanks for the question
