Summer Solstice Hike
Greetings Naturist Hikers,
1. The annual Naked Hiking Day (AKA summer solstice) nude hike will be on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. As in many previous years, meet at the AT parking lot on Forest Road 10 (AKA Mt Tabor Rd) east of Mt Tabor, Vermont, at 9 a.m. That will be the terminus of the hike. We will carpool from there to the start of the hike at the AT parking lot on Vermont Rt 140, 2.6 miles east of Wallingford. The hike will be approximately 10 miles long. After 8 miles we will arrive at Little Rock Pond, offering an excellent skinny dipping opportunity.
2. An additional option for those who want to do more: There will be a hike on Tuesday, June 20, around the Stratton Mountain/Stratton Pond loop. Meet at the AT trailhead on Stratton-Arlington Road at 9:30 a.m. The loop trail is 10.9 miles. After 6 miles, there is again an excellent skinny-dipping opportunity at Stratton Pond.
3. Those who wish to join for a shorter adventure on June 21 can hike from Forest Road 10 to Little Rock Pond, about 2 miles each way. The main group will probably arrive at the pond around 3:30 or 4 p.m.
4. Camping is available at Emerald Lake State Park, about a 20 minute drive from the meeting point for the solstice hike. No-fee camping is also available at the Big Branch shelter on the AT/Long Trail, about 1.2 miles south of the Forest Road 10 meeting point for the solstice hike.
5. Some of us plan to camp at Emerald Lake State Park for 2 nights beginning June 19. Reservations can be made at reserveamerica.com.
6. Another naturist opportunity: the second annual Eastern Naturist Festival will be held at the Eastover Estate in Lenox, MA, from July 20 to 23. The registration deadline is June 15. See: Registration | Eastern Naturist Festival
Please bring a mask to wear while carpooling. Unfortunately, COVID is still a threat.
Hoping to see you all (and all of you) this summer!
