RE:Here is a morbid topic:When my dad was a kid in the deep country before mortuary services were universal, it was the practice that a group of men would gather - he was one of them, once, when the local grocer died - to wash and dress the bodies of male deceased, and women for the women - the gender precaution due to the nudity involved.

RE:Here is a morbid topic:Pacemakers have to be removed, which the mortuary will do. Doubtless not the neatest of surgeries...
Is there an aftermarket for used pacemakers? asking for a friend

RE:Here is a morbid topic:No idea. The mortuary did not discuss with us what happened to my dad's pacemaker after they took it out.

RE:Here is a morbid topic:Morbid and turgid talk ahead - I seem to recall someone in the business I used to hang with mentioning that it is far from uncommon for a male's genitals to become and remain partially or fully erect postmortem, making an open casket nudist funeral rather, let's say, a tad more revealing than appropriate.
Many open casket funerals are only open from the waist up.

Yes, and after 90.
A strange joke I read.
I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather did.
I don't want to die screaming in terror like the 3 passengers in his car.
