How are our Gardens Growing?

Curious as to how everyone has been managing in their respective gardens. We have tomatoes, garlic, peas, carrots, onions, radishes, broccolli, just about every veggie we could concieve of. A slow start to our veggie patch this year, but progress is showing above the soil line now!
Weeding whilst nude is some great stretching exercise, and the sunshine sure feels good while out puttering!
How does YOUR garden grow this season?

RE: How are our Gardens Growing?

alas, the growing season has come and gone here in SE Texas...tomatoes and beans don't produce when it's over 100 many days in a row.
I planted March 1, taking a chance there wouldn't be another freeze (there wasn't) and had a nice crop of tomatoes and green beans, peppers and even some kohlrabi. Had some very nice broccali back in the late winter/early spring.
Hope you guys get a great crop!

If we were going to harvest fresh vegetables from our garden, we would have to plan in late summer or early fall. Now it's too hot and dry for anything to grow here.

i would starve to death if the grocery store wasn't down the street, the garden is showing a little promise though and we have a abundance of blueberries that have been there forever.

The only gardening I am doing this year is in a hanging basket - I will be SO glad when I get a house with a proper yard again...

RE: How are our Gardens Growing?

Although the start to my gardening season has been late, I seem to be getting a few plants to grow and show promise. My fruit trees however seem to be coming along great, with big showings on my apple trees, my pear tree is loaded, and perhaps I will get a few peaches again, The only tree which is not doing well is my apricot, and I think maybe it just needs to be moved to a new location.
I hope everyone is able to get out and find some kind of green thumbs, the satisfaction of growing your own food is amazing!
Even the modest return from a container garden makes one feel like the earth has provided!

Hi folks--my garden is doing ok--got potatoes, tomatoes, onions, squash , lettuce and cucumbers--all is doing well except the cucumbers-rodents keep eating the new plants. It was a rainy spring here in the midwest, so got started late-Hope to take some pics during the season

How is it that when we can fruits and veggies ourselves, we are loathe to open them? I still have peaches from 2 years ago too.
The garden is not necessarily about being self sufficient for fruit and veggies, it is more about the satisfaction of growing some fresh veggies and harvesting them ourselves. It is about the feel of the sun on us as we work in the garden, and the dirt under our fingernails.
Einstein once said, the future belongs to those who are not afraid to get dirty. Maybe gardening is a start in the right direction.
