Groups

So, how do you know when you've been accepted into a group? I've applied to join the Canadian Nudists group (the one with the large members) and after typing a rather lengthy post on the forum there, only found out after that I'm still not a member. Hehe...I know that we Canucks can be a bit lazy at times, but c'mon, it's been at least 4 days now.

So, you group leaders out there, get on et, eh!

RE: Groups

If you own a group, you have to keep an eye on it as you are not notified when someone joins. So, send him a mail, he probably hasn't seen you.

Ah, cool, thanks mate. :)

It depends on the settings that the group creator has chosen. Some groups require that you be manually added by the creator in order to allow them to screen the membership.

I haven't come across any where I wasn't immediately added after I clicked on "Join this group".
Well you won't get into MY group! .....hehehe

lol...Well I have, the Canadian Group with 24 members (of which I"m STILL not among) does require membership approval. Which is cool, I have no problems with that. I've asked the group leader in chat and even sent them an email a couple of days ago and still have gotten no response. If they want to reject me, fine, I guess I can undestand as I no longer live in Canada, but I AM CANADIAN (lol...from the beer ad...lol if you're a canuck you'd understand). However, I do object to being ignored, but I guess what can you do? lol...Oh well, I'm not going to throw a hissy fit over it.

Hey Swift, here is a thought for yea "Start you OWN group" See I too wonder about all these groups that were started and no one is following up on them? if their is no activity in the group then they should be removed? But WHO is going to remove them?

Hehe...Actually, finally got accepted in the other day. There's already two Canadian Nudist groups, so I figured they didn't need a third. Actually thought about joining the second one before I finally got accepted into this one. The only reason I didn't is that the one I joined has WAY more members and is more active. Thanks though. :)

Alnudecpl,

I do agree with you though on about removing old/inactive groups. However, from what I understand this feature is only afew of months old. So, I think it would be premature to do anything about that now, but maybe on an annual basis? Also, maybe they should monitor not so much the group, but the creator of the group? I don't know, I think it would be a tricky thing to do without pissing off the community. lol

RE: Groups

I can't see where there's an option to delete your own group, so I guess you'd have to request it from the site.
I noticed that the UK group (despite the description and the rules stating that it is, "A group for all us nudists from the UK") had accepted more than a few people from outside the UK. To my mind that defeats the object, and is annoying, if you are looking for people in the UK. After all, you don't want to waste your time looking at profiles of people from another country.
So when I started a group for people in the s/east, (to enable people to more easily find friends locally) I took the option of approving them so that I could stop unqualified people from joining.
There is a fundamental floor that limits the usefulness of a group, in as much as the members are not notified of group activity, and you can't do a bulk mail to all the members at once, so no one knows what's happening unless they check on all their groups regularly. The only way round it that I can think of, is to create a group profile and get everyone in the group to befriend it, so that you could then send a bulletin to them all at once.

Swift I got to hand it ot yea, you did good. And Phil I am some what pizzled about all of this, it is just like this, if you don't come back all the time you have no idea of waht is going on. I was mentioned before that BAM all of a sudden there were no groups and now you got more than you know what to do with and most may not even be around.
True and I agree, why would I want to join a UK group if I am not from their, guess it must be nature of things and new to most. I am having a tough enough time with the friends requets, I discussed this with anothers and I just can not see adding some one who does not have a profile filled out, after all you must have read our profile and now you are requesting to be our friends, how can we be friends if I look and I don't see anything about you in your profile, just like when I signed on here I had to make the call and as much as I hated to do it I hit 'Deny". Just goes with the rest, not a lot of control features here on the board, lot of talk to make this a good site, but I am afraid it may fall between the cracks.
Like the groups, I joined a couple, but hell I got to hunt for them now and have no idea if and activity is going on, just seems to me that you are spending a lot of time just looking through all the information to find the answer, then move on to the next one. Will it get better ?? If some one just leaves or never comes back to check, then the group is idle or dead, I can see a lot of fustration with having a group because you are limited to what you can do, I may look to create one and see what is available to the owner of the group?
It is like the message, no way to preview it before you send it and no way to edit it after it is posted?
