Didn't think about cubicles that would provide some privacy.
One time when I went on a family scout trip when some of the scouts' mothers or sisters were there, we all slept in one big open room and were told we had to wear shorts at all times. I did as commanded, but my shorts were fairly short, and someone accused me of being in my underwear!
I was fortunate that my random roommate for a few days said it first. We both were comfortable the entire business trip. The next year we both requested each other as a roommate for the same trip. Phoenix was not the place to have clothes on due to the temp.
My first time this happened though, was long ago. Was working in Kansas City, for a convention. The random roommate I had also said it first. I agreed as well. We would often hang naked after work and till the next day.
I find it surprising that at a fire station this was even a topic of conversation.
None of us are prudes; we're nudists on the TN site. ;)
But a fireman at the fire station is on the job. And if there are women there it seems kind of inappropriate professionally to put them in a weird situation like that.
Now if it's all dudes, whatever.
I mean, it's still the workplace. But if you're all guys, I guess, who cares. Not unlike the barracks in the military.
When I used to do a lot of group travels I was in most cases traveling alone and would inquire with the travel agent if there was anyone else traveling alone that would like to share a room to avoid the single supplement and allow the agent to book another couple on the trip. Most times there was someone who did not mind sharing a room to save to money - plus you might make a new friend.
We usually met each other at the airport as we got introduced to each other by the tour guide. Most times we were seated next to each other and could talk to get a feel for each others thoughts on the trip. When we arrived at the hotel we were checked in and found our room and i would usually strip and go take a shower after all the plane travel, room mate usually did the same. I was not quick to get dressed again, so I was nude when he came out of the bathroom/shower area, that's usually when I let him know i like to be naked when in the room, if it is/was a problem I would cover up and get dressed. Most instances it wasn't talked about - other than the other guy saying he wasn't sure how to broch the topic or that he just wore boxers or briefs in the room. Did also let them know I still awake in the morning with an erection, and I would take care of that out of sight of them. One guy got upset and asked for another room and that did cost me additional hotel charges at a couple of the places we stayed, since I now had a single room. Most of the guys were OK with something that happens naturally.
