RE:Neighbor

He said it wouldn't bother him if he did. I haven't put the wind screen up since.what a great neighbor. I have been out back sunning when all of a sudden I hear the neighbor directly behind me walk out. We have a nice wooden fence all around our property but if you hit the right angel you can clearly see through it. Im pretty sure they have seen me once or twice but never said anything.

Interesting interaction with the prior neighbor also. We had a 4' chain link fence then so I only swam nude after dark.
Shortly after he moved in, he mentioned that he liked to keep the floodlights in his back yard on after dark and hoped it wouldn't bother me.
I told him that I liked to keep my swimsuit off after dark and hoped that wouldn't bother him.
The subject never came up again.

Floodlights on at night - is that all night long? Do you live in a crime-addled neighborhood? If it was shining in my bedroom window all night, uh, yeah it would be a problem, to say nothing for the energy wastefulness, and light pollution in suburban areas is bad enough without that crap. Naked bodies in the pool next door may bother some, unneeded, incessant light over an unrealistic paranoid worry that 'something's coming to get me' is sad. Maybe stop watching horror movies and realize that violent crime rates are down to near historic levels in most of America.

Good neighbors are hard to find, I know, and blackout drapery isn't that expensive, but unless there's a boisterous family of bunnies cavorting around all night setting it off, a motion detecting light would make a hell of a lot more sense than a constant glow that can be seen from space.

This was over 20 years ago when crime rates were higher than now, With the exception of a notable uptick in 2020 and to a lesser extent 2021, crime rates have been falling for years. Or neighborhood is not crime ridden, but there was a rash of break ins in our neighborhood around that time. In 2021, someone broke into our house and stole a few things. They used the ladder I had in the shed to climb through an open window.
Our bedroom faces the front, so the light wasn't noticeable from there.

Good neighbours are invaluable and bad ones are a bloody nightmare. I'm lucky we planted out our side and rear fence lines years ago, and there are only a couple of small gaps on one side. Years ago a nurse was coming to tend to a sick neighbour and I was cooking at my BBQ, she saw over the fence, said hello and kept going, nothing further was ever said, not sure she could see my bare backside but she may have realised.
