RE: To be True or not to be True, that is the question

Thanks for the quote help guys. And Phil, please feel free to explain. I am a little embarassed though, it's not like I haven't been working with computers for 20 years.....ackThanksJerry

To be perfectly honest, the person you want to ask about how to do it right, would be Phil. The guy is a bloody whiz when it comes to this stuff. lol

Hehe, now I'M embarrassed! .......Thanks, that was very flattering Swifty, but I'm not sure I deserve it, (sorry for the delay by the way, had visitors) Jerry probably knows far more than me! .....I only know what I've picked up from trial and error and here the code seems to flash up for a second and then it's gone and you have to remember it's there. It doesn't always work for me and I don't really know why. I think if I were to do a complicated bit I would hit the reply button rather than Quote, and then put the quotes in myself so I could see them. As far as I can tell, alnudecpl have got it right, you just put ** (without the stars that I just put in to stop it working here, fingers crossed) and ** (don't forget the / ) at the end of the bit you want to quote. Just remember if you hit the quote button the code is there but you can't see it.
Another thing I've twigged is, .......If you copy from the net, a document or write a piece on Outlook Express, (same probably goes for Word and other programmes) Spellcheck it, and then paste it onto Notepad. ........THEN, Copy it AGAIN from there, and you LOOSE all the HTML code, so that when you paste it onto the forum, it comes out all right :)

ok, so the stars didn't stop it from working :) .....so, it's "quote" but in square brackets [ ] not speach marks, at the start, and "/quote" in square brackets [ ] not speach marks at the end.
:)

Your right, some how the HTML code is imbedding in the page - just as a matter of interest, I DO remember if you hit the Quote button the code was their, but as you say it does appear then it is gone,

Ok just as I figured, if you hit the Quote button on THIS post it should show up and you will see what we mean, I am looking at it right now - if it is a single quote it will disappear if it is more than one you will see it.
Wonder if this will work --- just remove the forward slash form the first quote ???

It would be interesting to see how Cowboy went with him on Facebook and hopefully he'll be kind enough to let us all know. Enquiring minds want to know. ;)
I haven't heard from him yet but when I do I'll let ya know.

Thanks guys!!! I don't feel so bad now. You guys are very amusing, I'm only sorry I wasn't more a part of it.
Congrats on Topless!!! A bit nipplely is it? lol. I'll try the quote thing again soon, but I think you guys are right, it looks like old html code from what you are saying.
Thanks!!!!
Jerry
