Avoiding Those Kitchen Mishaps.

Most home accidents occur in the kitchen, but almost all of them are avoidable. I have found out the hard way, just how dangerous it can be,to allowing distraction from what your doing.

Removing a large heavy pan from the oven, using a towelso not toburn my fingers, I placed the pan onto the hob, then answered thephone to someone. It was a wrong number, so walked back to the cooker and picked up the hot pan, Ouch,, my fingers stuck to it.
Allowing to be distracted for those few seconds, caused a nasty burn. Good job I had some bicarbonate of soda handy, ( if used on the burn within 30 seconds, it wil cool and relieve the pain almost instantly ).

I very seldom answer the phone or the door anymore, when cooking. Another annoying time for the phone or doorbell to ring, is after just sitting dow to enjoy your meal. Half an hour later, back to the table and finish eating a stone cold roast.

When cooking or eating,
Don't do a thing,
Just let it ring.

RE: Avoiding Those Kitchen Mishaps.

I had a similar incident happen to me over the weekend. I was carrying an old McIntosh amplifier from my workbench back into the living room nude, of course. The amplifier had been playing for quite some time, and the tubes were rather warm. While carrying the amp, I let one of the tubes touch my belly. Thankfully, I didn't drop the ampl when this surprised me (it's heavy) but now I've got a little itchy, burn mark on my chest. If I would have been wearing a shirt, I probably would have noticed the heat before it got hot enough to burn me.
I hope your hand gets well quickly, that sounds like quite a nasty burn there!
