Please share a time that you were uncomfortable with nudity

did you work through it and get comfy? or did it cause you to be less bold?

RE:Please share a time that you were uncomfortable with nudity

Many years ago while on vacation with another couple we were having a drink lakeside. We decided to go skinny dipping. I didn't wait till the plan was fully agreed upon. I stripped down, walked to the end of the pier. At that point I realized I was the only one naked. I must admit I was uncomfortable and jumped in the lake to cover up. I don't remember the others ever joining me. I now realize I'm comfortable with nudity as long as everyone else is nude too.

RE:Please share a time that you were uncomfortable with nudity

I think the below quote lends strength to the opinion that clothing optional isn't quite as effective as nudity for the comfort of those involved, even though this specific scenario was a clothed situation which became a bare opportunity. The emotions that come up when only part of the crowd is released from the constraints of cloth can embarrass, confuse, mix the message, and for some, enliven both exhibitionist and voyeuristic tendencies. I've been the only person with underwear on at a skinny dipping adventure, not understanding in my youthful ignorance that the other three people desired nudity, only realizing it when my man panties were already wetted in the pool and I was getting eye rolls and cajoling comments. Nakedness loves company!

By allowing some to wear clothes while some don't, the air sometimes fills with sexual innuendo that is released (though not always) when all are bare at one time. The other couple and your partner saw your body on display and immediately thought better (or worse) of their own willingness to go for it. Not knowing how close the four of you were due to this being a short story, with you tossing your clothes without reaching total agreement first, the vibe at lakeside might've been pleasant and childlike at first, and presumably fueled by some alcohol support, that excitement growing until the parts of an adult are in view. Then 'real thing' is there, unmistakable, undeniable, and that is a package once unwrapped, impossible to return to the manufacturer. It's all fun and games until someone gets their eyes popped out! I can only imagine the volatility of your conversation with your partner when you were once again alone, how embarrassed (s)he was that you dropped trou so readily.
