An Israeli opinion & observation about us (US)
I have just finished reading an opinion piece in Ynetnews.com about the US. I believe it to be spot on. The title is "America is in a crisis, which will not be resolved by the election". The basis for the entire article is the nearly even political & ideological divide in America (and its source), how our path might be changed, the unfavorable rankings of both candidates and America's 'feebleness' on the world stage. The Houthis' military ineptitude serves as a prime example with a total of two ships sunk, one captured & the US's inability to stop a third world 'piss-ant' from harassing international shipping. Talk about wimpy, it almost makes Charmin look like carbon fiber. What is the answer? Until we, as a country, decide what is important & needed to make our nation work and adequately support the world's democratic players ... the results are a toss up. I dare say it looks like the early part of the 20th century where the US did not act until lives were seriously lost ... maybe we can do a better job this time. It doesn't look good, I'm sorry to say. Maybe, and hopefully, cooler & smarter heads will prevail. We'll just have to wait and see.
That was a tough read. But its important to hear a view of us (US) through outside eyes. Its hard to determine who the friendly democracies are out there. While I consider Israel a clear country to support, Im not so sure Ukraine is. But, the wait and see strategy usually ends with a too little and too late result. Not sure what the answer is, but I do know we need to change from our current direction, across the board. We will see in a few short days. Thanks for sharing the article.
