Security systems and nude guests.
I am unpacking a new Defender security DVR and cam system. I have a concern about its use during times of enteraining nude guests, rather its non use. Anyone have any ideas short of tearing the system down to have guests feeling comfortable?
I edited the typos - hope you all understand the question now :-)
If the cameras are obviously visible, then you will need to cover them up with something obvious so people who see them know you are deliberately NOT taping them. If people see uncovered cameras throughout the house, they will get suspcious even if you tell them it's on stand-by. That's what I would do.
seems like it kind of kills the point of having security cameras in your house if you cover them up... especially if you're entertaining nude strangers. I would maybe see if you have a way of turning selective ones off, for instance if the nude area of your house is in the back then keep the front ones on and the perimeter ones on the back of your house and turn off your back porch ones, that way you can still have an eye on people in and out of your home without violating their privacy... at the same time, it's your house, and if you do put up a "surveillance equipment in use" sign at the front of your house legally you've notified them you're in the clear and anything taped is informed consent. If it were me I'd either confine nude areas to one point in my house and warn people that "going outside of these rooms means you'll be on camera" or just warn them straight up that you have a security system that records 24/7 so if they go nude, there's proof of it that will be used if for some reason it is needed legally... and a surveillance equipment notification sign will do that well enough

Do not follow this advice or you could end up being prosecuted, or at best, not having any friends left to entertain.

Depends on how well I know you !
If I know you well, and I know with certainty that you can be trusted, AND anyone else who may have any access to that system whatever, then it doesn't matter.
If I don't know you that well, it's my first visit, something like that, and I see cameras, I'm outa there !
So, depending on how well your guests know you, ( not so much how well you know them ) cover or remove them completely, with possible exception of entrance/gate camera, and outside perimiter cameras absolutely not in any area where guests might go.
Then, don't worry about it.
A camera in an area where a guest should not be, well, they should not be there ! Clothed or not is irrelevant.
Cameras in any area where guests are expected to be is crass at best.

First of all check your laws. It's totally legal, it's called implied consent, the posting of a sign that says "no trespassing" is grounds for legal action if you trespass, whether you read it or not. The posting of a sign at a pool that says "no lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk" is enough to not make you legally liable if you have a public pool that doesn't employ a lifeguard and someone drowns. Secondly, if you have friends that are uncomfortable being under surveillance equipment naked, tell them to leave their clothes on... period. If they aren't comfortable being under surveillance in general, tell them to stay out of your home. If you're going to have a security system you keep it turned on otherwise it's a waste of a lot of money... and if you're going to be wasting money anyway than instead of making that check out to the security company make it out to me.
Did you know they can legally survey dressing rooms? The reason most companies don't is because they would lose business, but they have every legal right to it as long as they post "surveillance equipment in use" in the dressing room area. If you're going to have a camera-operated surveillance system it makes no sense whatsoever to turn the cameras off because you entertain guests, whether they are nude or whatever. I know if I had a camera system it would be on... period. If you had a problem with it you could walk your happy ass out my house.
