Orient Beach

Sorry to interrupt the catfishing posts looking to meet up on Zangi, but would like to give an actual beach report for the Club Orient section of Orient Beach.

We are on the last full day of our eight days in St. Martin and most likely our last day on the beach. The weather has been fantastic, although a little windy all week. The Perch has been expanded since our last day trip in September 2018. It now has a full menu rivaling what Papagayo used to serve. They also have power, so frozen drinks are back! It had been 10 years since our last Club O vacation and we were a little apprehensive to come back after our 2018 cruise stop. But it is back to what we remember making it great (other than no Club O to stay at). We are already planning for next year.

This is encouraging news. Our last visit to the island and Club O was in 2009 with most of our immediate family. It's our hope to return to the island in the next couple of years. Appreciate all the updated information shared about the island and Orient Beach.

We have been home for almost 2 weeks since spending 18 days on St. Martin. Most days were spent on the beach in front of the former Club Orient. The beach has slowly improved since Irma, but is a long way from the old beach. Most notably is the lack of restroom facilities, a common complaint among women. The only facility now is a single closet that only sometimes works. The beach was very crowded most days and if you arrived after about 9:30, all he chairs were taken. Most days were windy, but it's still one of the best nude beaches we've ever been. Long walks up and down the beach gives one of the most liberating feeling imaginable. Few other beaches offer that sense of freedom. We love it there.

We used the Club O bathroom a couple of times. It is an RV toilet and to wash up a bottle of hand sanitizer. Not great. We just put on a towel wrap and walked over to the bathrooms behind Orange Fever. About a 2 minute walk. Not that they were great, either, but at least they had sinks where you could wash your hands before leaving.

The other couple we went with were early birds and went down to get us chairs at 6am (and they were still not the first ones there). If not for them, we would have been stuck lying our towels on the beach every day.

Sounds like you had a good experience. We had friends that went to the beach early also and grabbed chairs for us, but at 11 am Cedrics crew took whatever was used to save the chairs and opened them up. We got lucky on our last day that a friend found useable chairs in the broken pile and we were able to use them. It's still our favorite beach and keep going year after year and spend most days of our stay at this beach.

We saw the chairs being reclaimed, too. We made sure to be on the beach by 9:30 so we could pay for our chairs on time. Eleven am gave them plenty of time to show up. Much like chair squatting on cruises, it isnt fair to everyone else wanting a spot on the beach. Plus Cedric's crew isnt making any money on unused chairs.
