We lived in an apartment with just a shower until I was 6, we lived in an apartment with just a shower, but my parents though that I was too you g to use it, so I bathed in the laundry sink.
When I got to be about 4, it was getting crowded in there so my mother would sometimes send me to my grandparent's house to take a better bath there.
He would shave while I soaked in the tub and then help me wash up.
Sometimes he wore boxers and sometimes he was nude.
This gave me my first experience of what I could expect to look like when I got older, since I essentially never saw my father nude.
After that, my dad and I usually bathed and never did so together.

So to be clear, the 'he' in the second half of this story is your grandfather, and he would shave (his face?) at the sink (sometimes nude) while you were in the bathtub, and then would help you finish washing up when he was done by reaching into the tub with a washcloth, not actually get in the tub with you?
Either way, both scenarios sound like a wonderful bonding moment for granddad and grandson, especially with your parents, who acted as though they were scared to show themselves to you nude. At least your grandpa wasn't so silly about letting you see his true self.
I'm so glad my family always lived in places with a bathtub - one of my earliest memories was being the pilot of the bathtub plane with my three sisters splashing in the bubbles and laughing behind me! To this day, I still need to soak away my problems in a warm bath on a regular basis.
I'm happy that you eventually found nudism on your own, even though it ended up being so much later in life. Children who aren't hidden away from the natural human state come to understand their own bodies better and faster, and in my book, that is an imperative for those kids in avoiding many unhealthy body image issues which often don't show up until the first tinklings of puberty. Constantly hiding the adult body away from children gives bareness a mystique that can become a focusing agent for their young, impressionable minds, telling them non-verbally that they need to hide themselves away, too. What a disservice to them, and sadly, also an excellent way to teach them the destructive lie that hiding behind walls or clothes is healthy, when the exact opposite is true! The body they have is beautiful and should be gleefully displayed and celebrated, not concealed or allowed to cause any bit of shame. I've said it many times - a nudist upbringing makes for a better human being!

Yes to both of your questions.
I did some skinny dipping as a boy scout at camp and as a teen with a friend of mine with a pool, the latter only when his parents weren't home as sometimes there were several other teen boys there with you. But back then in the 60's and 70's males swimming nude when women weren't around wasn't considered nudity, it was just the culture.
When my friend started traveling without his parents, he noticed that when he called home, he noticed that his parents often mentioned having been in their pool, although they rarely were otherwise, He asked his dad why, who told my friend they didn't wear swimsuits when he was out of town.
After I moved out of town, my friend became a dedicated nudist. We talked about meeting at a beach sometime, but it never happened. Knowing he enjoyed it was one of the things that encouraged me to try.

My parents were absolute prudes when it came to nudity. I remember my family going swimming all together one time, our neighbors were out of town and we were watching their farm and tending the animals for them. They said we could use the pool if we wanted. My mom didn't even own a single pair of shorts, so she cut off a pair of her old jeans and wore a t-shirt because she never owned a bathing suit either. I think much of this was due to my father never wanting her to show off her body in anyway, it was either pants or long dresses. I knew no one who was a nudist, I didn't even meet my mother's parents until I was 8 and had no kind of relationship with them. My dad's mom lived with us, but she was paralyzed in a wheelchair and my dad's dad was an awful human who we saw about once a year for father's day. So definitely no grandpas who were into nudity either. Even with all that I still started disrobing at age 8. It would have been great to have had my dad or grandpa to guide me down the path of nudism, but alas. So I taught myself the love of being bare, and now I have passed it on to my children, and they are lucky enough to have a "naked grandma and grandpa" (chosen family) to help guide them in the clothes free life. Maybe one day I'll be the grandpa teaching my grandkids the love of nudism.

A few other memories related to nudity.
There were a few times when we stopped in unexpectedly at my grandfather's he would mention that he took so long to answer the door because he had to run upstairs and put some clothes on first. Like many men of that time period, being naked with other men was fine with him, but being nude in front of women was not.
He also mentioned that he always did his evening exercises nude,
The last 3 years my parents lived in their own house, my mother had difficultly climbing stairs and slept on a bed in the study, My father continued to sleep in the upstairs master bedroom. I noticed a few times when I was visiting that my father slept and traveled between bedroom and bathroom in just boxer shorts in warm weather. Apparantly the expectation of men wearing 2 piece pajama sets was my mother's,
And yes it was my maternal grandmother who lived in our neighborhood.
