Naturist/Nudist View on Sex, Gender, Transgender and Body Acceptance
Primarily in the US, there is a debate about the number of genders. At one time, it was commonly accepted that a person's biological sex was equated to a person's gender. In recent years, the idea of transgenderism has been mainstreamed. Men identify as women. Women identify as men. Each group adopts the clothes and roles traditionally held by the other. A key element of this transformation is the choice of clothes the person uses as the facade that covers physical traits they were born with. I completely understand the concept. I had a phase when I enjoyed wearing women's clothes and taking on a female persona. There was a time I could pass as a woman, but was very aware I had a penis.
As naturists/nudist, we are supposed to be comfortable in our skin. We are how God (as you see him/her) created us, a biological male or a biological female. It is hard to argue that you are a woman when you have a penis, or a man when you have large breasts. Is being a man or a woman different from being a male or a female? Can you be one with clothes on, and the other when nude?
The more I am nude, and the more I look at my naked body in the mirror or pictures, the more I accept who I am. When I am nude, I do not look at myself as male or female, a man or a woman. I am person, who has a penis that enjoys some traditionally feminine things along with all of the guy stuff one would expect. I may be old and chubby, but I like who I am and how I look nude.
Don't hate on me for bringing up the topic. It is just something that was on my mind.
Peace out,
Nudism is strengthened by a level of acceptance by and for all people, regardless of anything, including the design of their genitals, whether those parts are original recipe or 'extra-crispy'. It will be a great day when all nudists accept all people. Alas, even inside the bare community there is a lack of understanding in letting people be who they want to be, an agreement that the socially bare should comprehend totally due to the way we are often discriminated against and misrepresented.
Societal movement away from government-supported racism and sexism in needed and sensible ways, such as the outlawing of slavery not so long ago and giving women the right to vote, nudism and homosexuality are, in general, becoming more accepted, and my hope is transgenderism will eventually be embraced and considered an unquestioned right in America, though the road ahead is a bumpy one. One step forward and three steps backward seems to be winning the day at this point, but persevere my fellow citizens! The shackles of selfish stupidity will be thrown aside in time. Pronoun usage still challenges this fellow, but that's another discussion.
Further, nudist resorts and beaches should be building any new bathrooms as totally unisex. Kudos to the bath house designs at Cedar Trails in Ohio, Pen Marr in Maryland, and Drake's Ridge in Indiana, to mention three intelligently laid out wet area treatments (the assumption here - unknowingly smart due to the ages of those buildings, before trans was becoming understood), all good reminders of what is important where clothing isn't in the way of sound thinking. A gender-based designed bathroom is old, outdated, and fully out of touch with what's important in the nudist community. I have been to ten nude resorts and almost none of them had gender-divided showering areas - why should any toilet/sink areas be different? Regardless of the differences between the sexes, we all use toilets and wash and shave and brush. I think I can stand seeing a place for feminine napkins in every stall, or, heaven forbid, a bidet on display, and I hope women can suffer the indignity of having to see a urinal being used before they are dead.
Lastly, people who cannot stop politicizing the transgender community and/or targeting their personal decisions as illegitimate (as if it's any of their damned business) will in time be seen in the same way as the sad, falsely informed who vilify and lie about and imprison nudists, somewhat the same as homosexuals were treated before Stonewall and so many other important pivotal moments in their quest for legitimacy, or how people who don't fit into the small box of Christian beliefs are allowed to be openly ridiculed and attacked and even jailed and deported with their legal rights tossed aside. Nudists need to get real about supporting everyone who doesn't 'conform to the norm' - or don't be surprised when the zealots run out of other people to hate and scapegoat and come after our private resorts and public beaches - and US!
I agree with what you say Willy, I wasnt going to chime in here because of the usual nonsense people on both sides spout.
I have come up with a rather simple solution to the toilet debate. Its just a mater of rebranding what we have.
Disabled- toilets no change.
M - change the meaning to Miscellaneous genders, male, female, other.
W - only for those born with a Womb.
