Rain rain go away
We're in a similar boat down here in the Florida panhandle; we've been getting at least an inch per day for many days. We would be floating away except for the fact that we are in the sand hills and the water just quickly perks away. The grass is going crazy and has been a beautiful shade of green for a while ... and the mower is getting a workout! The heat is really getting to some of plants while others are still thriving. Hand in there with your garden ... the dry summer is out there & approaching. Good luck with your garden.
Dealing with that much water can be devastating, especially when you have a large garden. But for a small garden or raised beds there is a simple solution to keep your garden from washing away. Make some hoops out of 1/2" pvc pipe, get some plastic sheeting and some pvc pipe clamps. This allows you to cover your plants and keep a lot of the rain off of them in a fairly inexpensive manner and gives you the option to easily open your garden to the sky when a bit of rain is required. It can also help to extend your garden farther into the winter in colder climates by helping to protect from the frost.
Keep in mind during hot periods the plastic will trap heat and can burn up plants if not vented. There are a couple ways to combat this. 1. Remove the plastic during hot, dry days to let everything breath, or 2. cut the plastic so there is about a foot of open space between the plastic and the garden soil to let the air move while still protecting from washout rains.
Also remember that over watering washes away important nutrients your garden needs to flourish and replenish those nutrients appropriately.
