Vermont - A Small Towns Naked Dilemma

"Vermont is known for its progressive approach to personal freedoms,
and that extends to laws regarding public nudity.

A recent situation in Pittsford has led some residents to question whether
the town should consider enacting a public nudity ordinance.

Vermont Is Just Done With Letting People Run Around Naked

"The move comes as some downtown businesses have urged the council to act
on a number of issues related to people being nude in public spaces.

Based off of similar ordinances that cities and towns around Vermont and around the country have stood up
-- we need to find a fine balance between protecting folks right to free expression
as well as that level of indecent exposure that really is a public nuisance, ...

RE:Vermont - A Small Towns Naked Dilemma

Vermont has always occupied a special place in my heart when it comes to the liberating experience of social nudity. Several idyllic locations, such as The Ledges and Rock River in Southern Vermont, were among the first places where I truly embraced the exhilarating joy of being nude outdoors, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the camaraderie of others who shared the same enthusiasm. It was also in this picturesque state that I participated in the World Naked Bike Ride for the first time. I have many nudists friends from the state who are very special people. I sincerely hope that they can find a harmonious way for everyone to coexist, preserving the spirit of freedom and community that makes Vermont such a special place.

As a lady who embraces the nudist lifestyle, I believe Vermonts approach to personal freedom, especially when it comes to body autonomy, is something to be celebrated, not restricted.

The situation in Pittsford is a reminder that while public nudity is legal in Vermont, its often misunderstood. Nudism is not about provocation or indecency; it's about comfort, natural living, and freedom from unnecessary shame tied to the human body. For many of us, it's also deeply tied to mental well-being and a respectful, non-sexual connection with nature and self.

My answer to the question would be to adopt legislation the support the current UK situation.
This is best described by reference to the England and Wales College of Policing official guidelines for call handlers and attending officers.
It is most reliably acccess through the British Naturism website at https://bn.org.uk/policing/ which will be updated to link to the latest version of the guidelines.

"... a man has been regularly seen nude in his front yard, in full view of passing schoolchildren. While some have found this behavior disturbing...."

Since when is a government expected to restrict individual freedom just because some people find some behavior disturbing? Ordinarily, laws are enacted to prevent actual harm. What is the actual harm in a man being regularly seen in his front yard in full view of passing schoolchildren?

I like that idea. British Naturism is a great resource. I wish the whole United States would adopt the policy according to the resources at British Naturism.

Vermont residents, i am a Connecticut resident, and frequent your state BECAUSE its acceptable to be nude in certain areas of your beautiful state. I feel strongly that on your own property that you own and pay taxes for, you should be free to live however you wish, with exceptions to blighted property, or lewd sexual acts in full view of the general public passing randomly through. I attend the accepted events like WNBR/WALK and summer solstice nude hiking day in your state and in past years Bear MTN area of NY. Always positive interactions, other than a few hecklers on the streets of WNBR in Montpelier. when visiting your state i frequently use AIRBNB and ALWAYS before booking message the hosts about their listing inquiring about clothing optional while there so as not to offend or upset anyone. 99.9% of the time its positive, and i book. I have swapped countless contact info/ cell phone numbers with these hosts for future bookings instead of going through the app. And for my honesty i am usually given a discounted rate next time around if i pay cash or wish to extend my stay. i am very active, cycling, hiking, landscaping over the years, 30 yr ups career, sweat PROFUSELY... i am more comfortable being nude than wearing clothes and breaking out in hives or chafing from clothing. thats my reason why, everyone else has their own reason, but thats my reason why. if this person is being obscene then maybe steps need to be taken, but PLEASE.... lawmakers or breakers... do not ruin it for the ones that are minding their own business , stayin under the radar to enjoy life on their own terms. I love Vermont and all its beauty. I only buy maple syrup, and drops there as no other states can compare. My maple liquor, from Saxton river Distillery, cider from Cold Hollow, cheese from Cabot, chocolate from the Chocolatorium wear out my Darn Tough Socks, and all the wonderful spots to eat all over the state, Vermont country deli, Shakedown street, countless others. everyone please be cordial and come to a peaceful solution...PLEASE!
