Labor Day Weekend
Hey everyone, I plan to be in Vermont Labor Day weekend and would be open to a hike either Saturday or Monday. Saturday would be better for me, but open to Monday. Couple suggestions would be t a section of the AT to Little Pond near Bennington. This trail provides options that range from 4.5 miles to 10 miles. Naturist Soaker, if you read this post, this is the same trail we attempted Memorial Day a year or so ago but turned around for a number of reasons. Another suggestion is Spruce Mountain northwest of Montpelier. It has a great view and a fire tower we can climb. The trail is in and out and is about 4-5 miles. Open to other ideas as well. Let's get the trail and date nailed down soon so it can be posted under events.
Looking at the maps and between the two options presented, my bias would be to do the Little Pond hike, up the Long Trail from the parking area on Route 9.
There is a very nice loop west of Stratton Mountain that includes Stratton Pond, South Bourne Pond, and Branch Pond.
There is also Harmon Hill from the same parkign area as the Little Pond start, previously suggested by OtisSpunkmeyerNH
Being a holiday weekend, it is likely that we will see lots of textile hikers. That's not a concern for me but others may be shy.
ok, so sounds like Little Pond, and if everyone thinks Sat is good, let's post it. I will be staying over somewhere, not sure where yet, and if anyone else is interested staying over Sat, willing to share a room. There is a great restaurant in Bennington called the Publyk House, if anyone is staying over we can reserve a table and share dinner. Plan to spend the rest of the weekend relaxing at the Ledges and Rock River
