Little Mud Creek
I went to Little Mud Creek 2 weeks ago and found abundant nudists using the beach south of the entrance. I spoke to a number of the older couples there and they said the county had made allowances for the beach south of Little Mud Creek would be clothing optional until the construction is complete. The people spoke to were locals who used the beach often. My girl and I will be headed there this Friday 9/19 to take advantage of the accommodation.
I don't think there is any official recognition of the area south of Little Mud being OK for nudists. Like the early days of Blind Creek, I think it is simply being tolerated as long as there are no complaints. I know in the beginning of the construction project, Treasure Coast Naturists, which I am a member of, requested that the county extend the nude area up to Little Mud but they county did not act on it and the nudists just gradually migrated north up to the Little Mud Crossover. However, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GO NUDE NORTH OF THE CROSSOVER!!!! Some esteemed member of the ID10T club did a few months back alarming a resident who called the Sheriffs. A few incidents like that and we will be pushed back down 3/4 of a mile to the original north nude boundary.
On a side note, it will be interesting to see if the unofficial north boundary that we have now stays that way after the parking lot construction is done.
The times I went this summer, I noticed the attendance was way down, especially after they banned roadside parking on A1A. It will be interesting to see what happens now that the snowbirds are starting to come down, although there is a noticeable reduction in the Canadian tourists. I do suspect that once the main lot is open sometime this millennium, we will be fighting for the reduced number of parking spaces available
Minutes after I said all of that, this came in from Treasure Coast Naturists:
Hi Mark,
SHERIFF ACTIVITY AT THE BEACH
The patrol captain from the St Lucie County Sheriff's office called us today. She said there have been several complaints about nudity at Little Mud. The deputies have now been instructed by Sheriff Del Toro to go out onto the beach twice a day and tell people they need to move. If the situation persists, they will be taking stronger action which could include citations. The captain was unable to tell me what "stronger action" would look like, but the Sheriff is consulting with the County Attorney to see what action can be taken. The captain's call to us was a courtesy heads-up message. She asked that we spread this to our beachgoers so that we can avoid things getting ugly.
PLEASE HEED THIS WARNING!
On the positive side, we were told by Parks & Recreation that the parking area may be opening as early as November. Let's hope that's the case!
I don't know if someone ventured to the north of the crossover, or was nude in the crossover or whatever. I may venture down there tomorrow or Friday if the weather is nice. I don't know if that means they are pushing us farther south on the beach or if they are just looking at the area north of the crossover. At the surface it looks like it may be a case of the actions of a few ruining it for everyone, or people that have nothing better to do than find stuff to complain about (I call them Probitch, Professional bitchers) decided that this would be what they would put their unique talents towards.
Latest from TCN,
Hi Mark,
TCN & BLIND CREEK BEACH HAPPENINGS
No Nudity at Little Mud Beach
As we reported a couple of weeks ago, the Sheriff's Department called and gave us warning that they are going to start enforcing the no nudity policy at Little Mud beach. They've advised us that beachgoers need to walk south to the designated clothing-optional section. For those who asked exactly where that is, it's about 3/4 mile south of the Little Mud trailhead.
We don't know what caused the recent crackdown by the Sheriff's Department, but this is where we find ourselves today. We don't want to see anyone get arrested or cited; and we don't want to ruin the good relationship we've always had with County officials. The nudists are currently being perceived as a nuisance, and this kind of negative attention is not good for our cause.
We are asking you, please, to take this request seriously. Please do not go nude outside of the designated clothing-optional area. If we ever have hope of asking for an expansion of the clothing-optional area in the future, we need to restore and maintain our good standing with the County.
On the bright side, we've been told the parking lot construction should be completed sometime in November! We will keep you updated when we have more information.
My guess is that someone that is not happy unless they are complaining about something did what they do best.
Either that, or with the parking lot completion drawing near, they want to start working the nudists to the original boundaries so that Little Mud can return to its usual empty state.
Thanx Mark for posting this!
I too am a member of Treasure Coast Naturists(TCN), and was going to post their warnings and info. I do not "currently" live in Florida, but plan to when I retire in 5 years. My wife and I enjoy Cruising frequently, so whenever we go to Ft Lauderdal for the cruise, we always plan extra time to stay there, and we love going to Blind Creek. Looking forward to our next trip there at the end of February next year.

Hiya Dan,
Yes we did go and the deputy showed up and told us we had to move. We had been there for about 3 hours so we decided to pack up and leave. Really sad that the county didn't extend the nude area to include Little Mud Creek. We will probably go to nudist rec areas like Sunnier Palms until Blind Creek is open again.
