I have chatted with a number of folks who emerged into nude life after 40. Some as part of turning 40 and others many years after turning 40.
What is common across their stories of entering nude life at such an age is a desire to shun the conformity and constraints of the world (ie feel free). This often converges with another view that their body is what it is and has got them this far (ie self discovery).
I have witnessed a couple at a beach who were clearly in my view experiencing public nudity for the first time. It was a dull day and not many of us around when they arrived and cautiously disrobed. The water was cold. But their joy was wonderful to see with them both jumping around like teenagers. I would have said they were both over 60.
Every now and then at a local CO beach I've seen people who appear first timers and over 40+. I think it's great and my guess is that it's a dare or an idea and finally they have kids off their hands and decide to do something different or something they always wanted to but didn't get around to.
My late wife & I went when young but once kids come along beach visits became more difficult and we lived a long way from a CO beach. Just prior to her cancer diagnosis I had tentatively booked a camp stay at a CO beach / campground, but we did not get the chance to go there. I had many years of not getting to CO beaches when our kids were young and it was only when they were older and we shifted closer to the coast I had the opportunity again.
My new partner is 50 and has never been so that is planned for this summer.

Ya I've noticed the majority of people I've talked with that were new to nudism were mid to late 40's. Usually after the kids have grown up and the had more freedom and time. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry to here about your late wife. I lost mine years ago. She would of loved the lifestyle if she had the chance. Im sure you and your new partner will enjoy it, even if it takes a little time. Thanks for sharing.
