TN needs more IRON
It seems clear to me that, while the code base may indeed need a good scrub, you prob also need to stack some more hardware on. It just takes too long. Maybe your back end needs rethinking. I use SQLite, since it is only as complicated as it needs to be.
I cannot help with actually snake-checking the site, but I maybe you should think about hot-shotting it, bring in someone good with a fresh perspective, to cull it.
I love what you folks have done here, but every major system from airlines to banking to moon launches reaches a point where it has to be replaced with newer, more effective code. I believe that is the case here. No dishonor nor incompetence at all. It has simply outgrown it britches.

Generic User Names should be ELIMINATED going forward. "Nudist_gtyrt9809" and "Naturist_ft8938" and such are meaningless and difficult to not confuse. If a new user cannot create their own, actual User Name then they must not have the intelligence God gave a squirrel, so what are they doing here?
Likewise, why do we allow people to come here and create a profile without a photo? Isn't that like telling the scammers and spammer,s "Hey, y'all. come on in here! Keep yourself invisible and stuff, that's juuuuust fine. LURK and PEEP and scrape all OUR photos and don't WORRY about putting your own damn image up. Hellll no."
A brand new user might need a few days to sniff around a bit, but, If you go to a neighborhood nude party, and you show up fully clothed, someone pretty soon will ask you to undress or leave. If someone is a Member of True Nudists, they should LOOK LIKE A TRUE NUDIST. Am I wrong?
