How to add a photo into a message
Can this be done - and how?
When reading an answere here one can write a message from the profile. Then click "Save", followed by "Stay".
Then there is the possibility to upload a photo.
When I send a message I only get the choice of "Send" - there is no click to "Save".
Please explain how it works...

I don't believe there is a way to insert a photo directly into a message (I assume you do mean a direct message and not a Group or Forum posting).
You can upload a photo or video to imgur.com and post the link in your message.
If you do mean in a group or forum posting, this got deleted when the "edit" button went missing in one of the last "upgrades" that invariably break things. There is a way, but you need to be on a desktop, and comfortable with doing some minor code change in the page script.
After some playing around with it, after you hit "send" (This may vary based on your platform?), is there a "Stay" option? If so, click "stay" and then in the right hand panel (Desktop version, Mobile version may vary), there should be a button "Attach Images". Click on it and it will take you to the upload script. You may or may not get an error along the lines of "Only content creators can modify messages". Ignore it, the photo should have uploaded.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.When I tried a second time, the picture I uploaded first was added to the second post, so, two copies now show.
The first post showed the photos before your second post was done. If you are dragging and dropping, the script is "live" and will continue to re-add the photo as long as you hold the image over the drop box. If you hold it there long enough, it will add the photo dozens of times. I always use the option to select what photo I want, especially now that the "edit" button no longer appears to easily delete repeat copies.
