Bikini barista
In my social media feed recently was a video clip of man trying to pull a drive-through barista out through the service window of the store's drive through. It was confronting to say the least. But I also noticed the barista appeared to be nude or topless at least. I then learned this was in Washington US. And that in the state there are many barista bars and coffee joints with 'topless' baristas. I believe many wear micro bikini bottoms or are indeed nude. I believe it also includes male baristas too.
A bit of coverage on various social media platforms ranges from 'hey this is family friendly' to it denegrates people (esp women) and the neighbourhood.
So here's my question, especially to those who live in Washington, if nudity or partial nudity at your local coffee joint is omnipresent does it help or hinder the nude agenda and in gaining greater community acceptance of nudity?
I personally am not certain. Anything is possible to show in a video in the age of AI.
That does not mean the video is real.
I personally think it is a good idea to do deeper dives into whatever you see on the internet and on TV and digital media.
It always help to think critically about these things.
If people are familiar with that situation and the clothing laws in Washington State in the Pacific West Coast Northwestern USA, It is a good idea to share what you might know about that particular restaurant in the video if it is proven to have existed in real life and really allowed the people working there to have more lax workplace clothes.
I would be careful to avoid going over to look for it in real life to see if it is real. It is best to ask around people living there in Washington State USA about nudity laws in that state in the first place.
I am sure they are more tolerant, since some states are better known to have cities more tolerant of nudism in a few of the "Blue States" and not tolerant of nudity at all in some of the "Red States" politically.
That kinda is how some things in the USA work, given the state governments do much of the day-to-day operations of government in some parts of the USA government, in the United States of America.
There are many overriding Federal LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES INSIDE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, but not all laws are Federal.
Several welfare and social laws are more state-oriented. So many of those laws depend on the political situation in each state. It is more difficult to get clear answers on some parts of government's daily operations, due to a hostile political environment, in some states, and that is a real challenge to freedom and democratic processes in the United States.
I hope that I have described more accurately some aspects of the situation in the USA, but I am not certain of the video mentioned above.

Prior to posting i had done the back ground searching and 'yes' there are indeed these coffee joints and retailers in Washington that have (declared) topless baristas. A little search around the images and yes many are wearing very little. So my post based on those search results was a call out to people living in the State to comment whether they believe that the legalised nude, well topless at least, retailing they have there helps or hinders the nude agenda.
Here in Brisbane for many decades we had topless bar maids. But they are basically now extinct after public attitudes to public nudity swung against having them in a number of pubs. For me they were a symbol of the freer attitudes to nudity of the 1970s and 1980s.
Yes, the attitudes were very free compared to now.
Much of that has faded in some places where it was more common in the 60s since about the mid 80s for some places in the USA, but some places held on much longer, with a large number of towns in a few states holding on to the prior attitudes more tolerant of nudism found in the years between the 1920s and the 1980s in at least a few of the "blue Western and Northern USA states," which held on much later.
Definitely on the West Coast, parts of The former Midwest Blue Wall, and several areas of the Northeast/MidAtlantic/New England really held onto their rights at the local level between the 50s and 60s when nudism was at its zenith until the mid 80s or later.
Some places like Vermont and most of Oregon and Washington State still hold on to the present day as part of New England for Vermont and the states of Oregon and Washington West Coast Left Coast/Cascadia. Massachusetts holds on in several places, Connecticut has at least one nudist association somewhere there, but has amounts of people visiting other places like New York and Massachusetts and Vermont to regularly practice naturism in Vermont in the Mountains and Massachusetts on a few of the beaches that have official nudist beach or topless beach designations.
Of course, now, some places inside traditionally blue regions like New Hampshire and New Jersey now have the more-than-occaisonal rightwing politician in suburban or remote rural places, away from some of the largest cities. These places are sometimes hostile to nudists among portions of the rightwing population. Alaska is also a mixed bag on the west coast.
Rural and suburban California is also not as uniformly leftwing and nudist as cities like San Francisco for instance even though there are more city-wide than statewide pro-nudity ordianances on the books in several of the largest cities in California in a few of the abosolutely largest cities and at several coastal beaches in California that are more tolerant than other places where nudist beaches are mostly absent in several large parts of the USA, even if there is a river or lake or water much of the time.
Some of the past and present "Bellweather states in Presidential elections" and the "Purple States or Swing voting states" hold onto nudism, even as nudism generally sees mixed results or bad results for the numbers of regularly-active nudists in several of red states and purple states.
In the reddest states, including specifically Utah, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and South Dakota, nudism is really hard to do in several circumstances. Most jarring is that in those five states nudism is banned at a minimum of outside the home and outside public locations. These also are the "Red States" with a "Christian population that often opposes nudism heavily" in that Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi have the most rude and mean and far-right police and governments, but they have the most opposition to nudism among general society and politicians and the more vocal far-right activists in these states in addition to the government.
South Dakota is more of a mixed bag since it is in the midwest but the police and politicians ruling the government right now in the republican party in South Dakota are at least very heavily opposed to naturism and public nudity in their activist and far-right government policies.
Utah is the Mormon Church belt in the USA, meaning the main population centers in Utah are mostly a trifecta of Protestants, Roman Catholics, and Mormon Church, in addition to smaller populations of Jews and Hindus and Muslims and Buddhists and Jainism followers and Sikhs and Indigenous-to-America Religions, but they additionally have more Catholics and Mormons and Conservative Protestants in Utah who oppose nudism more in most of these cities in the REPUBLICAN PARTY right-wing and centrist Republican-Party-led governments in Utah.
It is not quite like that in Denmark, when many people are also against nudism but more of the population is highly in favor of it than anywhere else in the world right now save for New Zealand, The UK, most of the provinces of Canada, Australia, and Germany, and Spain and in France in a large number of cities and municipalities and in several regions in that nation.
There are anti-nudists now in all those nations, but all of those nations have the higher amounts of regular nudists and some of the higher amounts of non-regular nudists and non-nudist that are less directly against nudism than people who are ultimately both anti-nudism and anti-naturism.
The more democratic countries also tend to be smaller and medium-sized nations as opposed to the more totalitarian places.
The best examples of the phenomenon of totalitarianism spreading more in the present late1985 to year 2026 is Indonesia (despite Bali having nudist resorts and locations) being a national government of totalitarians, Another example is that the most populated federal nations, usually those located outside the Global North and Australia and Canada and Mexico and Brazil, In The Current Times, are becoming or are already way more totalitarian, Argentina is leaning much more toward totalitarianism, under Millei; Somalia definitely is totalitarian as a federal republic right now.
Nigeria leaning into totalitarianism in their federal government, Venezuela has a government that is a federal government with states that leans more totalitarian, Sudan has a federal government and is in a rapidly deteriorating totalitarian rump state in the midst of a civil war during the aftermath of a failed autocoup. South Sudan is more instable and they also have a federal government with a more totalitarian-leaning leader.
The Russian Federation or Russia is totalitarian after being rather unstable under Yeltsin post-USSR era.
Iraq has a mostly democratic government with a larger than normal population of the public leaning toward totalitarianism in public sentiment, but nudism is nowhere to be found there for most people.
The UAE, while smaller and richer, has a federal government, but is a federal near-absolutist monarchy that is officially Islamic in the captial region.
Oman itself remains one of the few absolute monarchies and outlaws nudism and has a traditional monarchy with Islam as the state religion even though some religions are permitted usually in some places in the nation. They are rich, small size of population and a smaller land area nation, but they have right-wing traditional rulers.
Saudi Arabia is the only truly Massive by both population and land area truly Absolutist Traditional Islamist and Theocratic and rich and repressive totalitarian monarchies that bans nudist activity. They have a unitary totalitarian monarchy that is Sunni Islamist.
Iran also is a unitary state, not a federal state, but has a totalitarian regime that bans nudism and has anti-nudist and anti-opposition Islamic nationalist far-right Shia Muslim nationalist sentiment. It is more of a totalitarian military state under a one-party state that is repressive and anti-western, as opposed to Saudi Arabia which is pro-west economically but aligned self-interestedly for defense, but usually only seeks foreign arms from the western governments.
The Kingdom Jordan is definitely a mixed society but a mostly Muslim and with an officially Islamic Monarchy in the Royal Family and in politics, but is definitely anti-nudism despite Palestine having nudist locations in the west bank along the dead sea and Jordan River and in the areas under the government of Israel on the Mediterranean Sea.
There is no nudism in Lebanon.
There is no nudism in Syria.
There is very very little nudism in Turkiye since they are under an Islamist ruling party and has favored the promotion of Islam and Islamism without and being lax against hate speech and discrimination against non-muslim minorities despite the constitution not having official statuses for the Islamic religions or other religious communities. Most nudism is illegal anyway due to local regualtions and the nudists deciding to leave to other places in Europe to go to the place popular among nudists among the European places that have nudist locations.
There is not nudism legally permitted in Egypt Tunisia Algeria Libya and Morocco and Sawahari Arab Democratic Republic or Western Sahara country. There is not mainstream and legal nudism in Albania, despite it being legal in several places in Montenegro along the coasts and elsewhere and in Serbia in some locations, and in Greece of course, and in many of the locations in Europe located outside Ukraine during the War in Ukraine in Europe.
Belarus basically has no legal nudism.
There is no nudism in Pakistan that is legally allowed. Pakistan is an authoritarian Islamic Republic and has a Federal Government at this point.
Afghanistan is mostly a totalitarian regime with 99% of the nation run by the taliban and the liberal conservative Republican Insurgency occupying some parts of the Panjshir valley in the Tajik-Dari Persian-speaking and Hazara-Turkic Language-Speaking regions near Panjshir Valley on less that 3% of Afghanistan's land area. They are still fighting a bitter military war in the Panjshir valley but much of the death caused by war is now pushed by Pakistan's authoritarian government against Afghanistan's Taliban government and the border war between the Pakistani and Afghanistani Taliban groups and the government of Pakistan in the Pakistan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and across the border in Nuristan province in Afghanistan and in other provinces along the Pakistan border inside Afghanistan.
Thailand and the Phillipines seems to be the most open to nudism. They are partly free and partly democratic, but they are open to tourism and resorts, so some people there really tolerate locally some of the nude beaches and nudist resorts. Depends on what is nearby that is nudist in both nations.
Malaysia has laws against nudism, so nudists there go to other parts of the world to experience the nudist locations in other countries freely.
Singapore does not really legally have fully legal nudist locations, but some do it even though it mostly is a legal gray area but considered borderline illegal if done outside the places at home away from public sight when nobody.
Cambodia really does not have nudism.
South Korea really does not always have nudism even though some spas might be nudists bath houses like the japanese had earlier in history in Japan.
Taiwan might not be a widely accepting society of nudism, but people have some interest in nudism there even if they have to go to other places to experience nudist locations in travel to freely practice nudism.
Australia sometimes sees several nude resorts or nudist beaches close in a given year in present times in Queensland and a few other parts of Australia sometimes in more recent years since 2020, which is sad.
Australia also has the repressive Censorship law that forces age-verification to use the Internet onto non-criminals, which is totalitarian authoritarianism for nudists and opponents of censorship.
New Zealand has a few good protections for all of its beaches to be nudist beaches, but it slowly is getting more socially-repressive and less pro-freedom of conscience and nudism.
The best places culture wise for nudism now are Denmark, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Iceland, Norway, and Finland.
Sweden is nice for nudists but, sometimes, has several cities more heavily inhabited by a very hard and bitterly opposed to nudism group of opponents to nudists among the people that live there among a moderate amount of residents and citizens living there, but they also have almost entirely abolished censorship in what now the most socially liberal government of any monarchy in the world right now with the best press freedom index score in the Nordic region. So, that makes sweden now a very liberal, but divided sometimes, mixed bag of liberals and somewhat right-wing people, where the left supports nudism a lot of the time, while the right-wing people and activists sometimes oppose nudism much of the time simultaneously while co-existing in the nation in the same cities of residence as the people they oppose and the nudist people they oppose. Demographic decline in some of Sweden's cities and the Sweden's rural places and in the nation's demographics for some whole regions of Sweden are really moving around a lot of the people in and around sweden in fast changing environments in some cities. Some places also were getting pretty dangerous in some neighborhoods in cities in Sweden in some places in 2019-2022. People are trying to reverse that in cities. That does not mean opponents to nudism among the right-wing are going away, so the country has some fragmentations about public opinion about nudists and nudism and naturism.
I hope that can explain some things about where the world is turning.
I do not like the souring of public opinion in the world against the nudists and freedom of conscience right now.
I would prefer freedom of conscience and nudism public nudity and nudists to all be respected and I oppose my local state laws outlawing public nudity right now. People are really right-wing opposed to nudism right now in the part of the USA where I live and I do not like it.
ON TOPIC: Yes, I also think it would be worthwhile to visit seattle during Summer Solstice and see what the nudist culture is like there. Seattle generally is a great place to see nudism in action there at the Summer Solstice bicycle riding festival there. That should be cool if you were to visit there.
I never really heard about the nudist restaurants and drive thru restaurants, so I was unaware. Hopefully you could see it for yourself if you visit Washington State or Kansas if they have nudist drive thru restaurants in Kansas, where public nudity is fully legal according to state law, or Washington State or Oregon, where it mostly is legal.
Best of wishes for you.
I found some ideas to work with for visiting the USA:
I found some videos about the bikini baristas.
There is a history of the bikini baristas taking extra measures to stay safe.
Generally, it appears that Seattle is fine, but the practices there, are a little different from the various states that have bikini baristas.
Yeah. Washington state inside the city of Seattle is safe, but it becomes less certain outside certain cities where they have a strong nudist culture like seattle outside of a few places like the Vermont Wilderness in some towns where nudity is or formerly was tolerated in public.
In the other states there were some incidents at some bikini baristas in the other states. Arizona had a controversial incident earlier in the 2020s decade within the last few years.
Proceed with caution. Always stay safe when in other places, like Arizona, like Nevada, like Utah, like the more interior western states.
Even some places in California, Oregon even since the police in some places in Oregon bypass the law on a few occaisions regarding the protection of normalized nudity in public in Oregon, so proceed with caution in Oregon.
There are bikini baristas in Arizona, but there are others in other places that have them in places that are less commonly associated with nudist culture in the United States.
Always avoid touching anything, and usually, outside seattle, if you come upon a bikini barista, it might be less common for some of them to see a nudist if outside the municipality of the city of Seattle local government area inside Washington State. Nudists are more common in seattle than more of the cities in the USA anywhere else in America.
Nudists are common in seattle, and in New York City toplessness is tolerated but nudists are declining.
Avoid nudist activity in federal states where it is actually near-totally or totally banned in areas away from specific nudist zones: Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Utah, Indiana, South Dakota.
Try to wear clothes in those states even if you see a bikini barista there outside the inside of the privacy fences of the nudist zones, like officially sanctioned nudist resorts and communities.
