Australia-take your spiders back. We DON'T want them here
Reading in the newspaper today that the UK is becoming overun with the Australian Redback Spider. They have now been spotted all over the country.
Has anyone from the Uk come across one ?

Whilst Red-back spiders are poisonous, if you get bitten by one the venom is actually quite slow to register in the body (takes about 4 hours).
The most deadliest spider in the world is the Sydney Funnel-web spider. I've never come across one, but only the males are capable of killing people and they are very fast and bad-tempered critters. Australia can definitely do without them!
Here's a song about red-backs that was a hit in Australia in 1972:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3lF6pwuJwA&feature=related

No doubt, they live around us and sometimes come inside the house, usually loving cool and shady aspects, like behind the toilet seat and more common under the rims of pot plant containers. It' good not to be arachniphobic in Australia.
