Is the media our enemy?
The only activity people are seen doing in the movies and TV shows is having sex usually with someone they are not married to. The news seems to only report on sexual predators. There are so few reports of what nudism really is.These preconceptions are reinforced time and again.I have seen more than once that the percentage of the general population that are nudists is about 25%.So why are the populations in the nudist venues so small? I believe most of us are hiding out of fear being labeled a sexual predator or being promiscuous.Where I work two people have been fired. One rightly so, he was a true sexual predator. He was sixty-something and performed an inappropriate sex act in a video and sent it to what he thought was a 14 year old girl. He set up a date with her only to find out it was a State Trooper. The other guy would walk about the office barefoot and talk about his weekends at a nudist resort. We need more coverage in the media that shows we are not evil. This is a life style like any other, just without clothes, in a natural state.

"The Media" need not be an enemy, but do need to be properly exploited.
The media exploit sensationalism. Whatever is perceived to increase viewers is what they will follow, regardless of what it might be, what damage it might do, or not do. It's *all* about selling soap !
SO, we *give* them something they can ( and will ) use to their own purpose, but carefully crafted to present that which we wish presented, knowing that they *will* take out of context anything they perceive will increase the sensationalism.
It can't be stressed enough to consider how anything might be twisted to mean something it doesn't, or related to something unrelatable so as to increase sensationalism.
O.k., we know what the media is about, but with all the so far negatives, we need to take advantage of the media, as they're always out for sensation. Let's all stand together and put nudity in the limelight & keep it clean to remain, to encourage more freedom for every individual nudist and nudist groups. We all know of individual perpetrators, who make us innocent nudists look pretty bad in the public eye plus people committing sexual acts in public places is harmful to us as well. Unfortunately the perpetrators do hide under the cover of naturism/nudism, which poses an up hill battle for all of us. Yes somehow, we have to be whistle blowers to expose these ever damaging characters and the media can become very useful in this. All we need to do, is stand together in unity & turn our disadvantage to our advantage for the sake of untainted nudist freedom.
If you pick up the newspaper or watch the news, almost all they talk about is intentional or unintentional violence. There are many reports of nudity, but the vast majority are not what I believe are the values of nudism. I did find one CNN report and one New York Times report about Rock Lodge in Stockholm, NJ. I have tried to search for movies dealing with nudism, but all I find is porn. I do not watch porn. I see that as "socially acceptable voyeurism". I also do not want to find the movies to be either "guy gets girl" or "girl gets guy", I am looking for movies of everyday activities, less clothes so show my wife how normal it is.
Even when there is a news story that gives an accurate portrayal of nudism in a good light, almost always the news anchors are snickering and making snide comments afterwards. I suppose that in the ignorance or discomfort with the topic of nudism they are only trying to distance themselves from the story, but it reinforces the stereotype that nudists are all bunch of nutters running around naked.
The news media is always looking for a sensational story. That's why any story about nudism has "legs". They will play it up for all its worth. Unfortunately, they will most likely put a negative spin on the story. You just can't depend on them to do an honest story. Of course, if they reported the story about nudism honestly, it would probably be rather boring.
