Nude Pride Parade!
Raven, I understood, and unless asked to join in, would probably not do so. I am a straight male with many gay friends and if they asked me and/or my partner to join, in order to present a united front, then I/we would do. I say this because most gays are happier within their public nudity than the straights.
I can't help thinking that if more nudists stood up for nudist ideals and put in time working for nudism rather than marching for publicity "we" would be much further down the track in terms of public acceptance.
This is not the thread to air those ideas, but lets see who, why and more importantly, how other posters here feel on participating.
I wouldn't. I tend to agree with Rene. I think it would be less than productive to participate in, or attend, such a parade. Pride type parades tend to attract participants with their own agenda. And it would be more of a novelty, more than likely, for the general public. "Hey, let's go look at the naked people parading down Main Street".
Maybe you need to change it to a 'Happy to be Nude in Public' March
Agree. But, I agree with other posters who say that a parade to promote nudism would probably be less than helpful for many of the reasons mentioned. But perhaps an event that had another specific activity as its centerpiece but where all the participants were nude would be a better idea. Like a mass nude hike. I know there are naked bike rides and 5k runs. If someone organized one of those type events nearby I'd be more inclined to consider attending.

It is a sanctioned event, in as much as the city of Los Angeles knows it will happen, but very little public notice is given. The effect, is getting attention for man's consumption of oil. To protest naked does get the attention of those who would otherwise not pay attention to the message. To have a Parade of Nude Pride, much notice would be given, and those who wanted to participate or to see what is was about, would have have ample opportunity to plan to be there....or avoid it all together. Like a Nude Beach, it would not be something you would stumble upon by accident. San Francisco comes to mind with the Bay to Breakers Run. At this point, in the history of the run, there is always a contingent that runs it nude, it is sort of expected.
Perhaps a Nude Fair! It could be set up in a High School Stadium or some other location, that wasn't quite so public. Different sub groups could be there, such as naked hikers, runners, gourmet cooks, wine tasters, sewing clubs, Christian, Pagan, etc..emphasis on clean social nudism. The idea being, to get it off that "dirty little stretch of beach" or out from "behind that fence" and into the public eye.
How about instead of a parade just a legal day where anyone can be nude anywhere doing thier own thing without being bothered by police. LEGAL NUDE DAY. Make it national so local laws don't apply. That way it's not a gimmic-protest or any thing else just a day where people might see nudests as regular people.
Maybe you need to change it to a 'Happy to be Nude in Public' March, Raven. I can't see how it is rubbing anything in anyone's face- we're all nude under our clothes.
It is very true we are all nude under our clothes - but the majority of people out there don't want to see themselves, let alone others, nude. Do you really believe that 'rubbing their noses in nudism' will engender their goodwill?
And before anyone starts on about 'rights' let us stick to whether a 'Nude Pride March/Day' would be good for our movement and if you would attend.
