Groups, why bother?

Groups, Why bother?
Since joining TN I joined four groups thinking I would be establishing a dialog with other nudists of similar interests. What I found was almost a total lack of activity. A prime example would be Photography Nudists Group with 279 members and more joining each day. Since I joined five weeks ago there has been eight posts (six of them by me , hoping to stir up some interest ), 120 views and just 5 replies.
So my question is why bother to join a Group if you do not intend to participate in some way?

Yeah, the groups are VERY inactive here. I had thought as you as well and quickly discovered that wasn't the case. It's unfortunate really, because they are a very good idea, but will only work if people in the group actually participated.

Of the groups I belong to, the one I created for Formula One fans actually is active. Depends on the passion.

That's a very good point. What really disapoints meare the groups about locations. I was estatic when I first got here that they had that and I was looking forward to meeting a few locals via the groups. Haven't met a single one, the ones about location seem to be the deadest of the dead. lol...Well, at least the ones I belong to.

Earlashcroft,
"I think part of the problem is that the groups don't really connect very well to the rest of the site. For example if I belong to a group it would be nice if any time someone posted something then it showed up on my updates. It would also be nice to have a way to posts links to uploaded pic in a group. If those changes were made I think it would change the activity inthe groups."
You can place a pic directly into your post. See UKrudegirl post in Photography Nudist Group for instruction. See the groups are useful when used.

A couple of the groups I am in do have a fair amount of activity, especially the Hippie Hollow group. We use it to notify others of planned trips there and I have met about 20 people from here out there. It definately would be nice if you got a notification of new post in group like we get when a new member joins. There are also instructions to post pics in forum and groups in the computer club FAQ group. I have posted pics in my nude fishing group.

We already have the means. All it needs Earl, is for the group creator to befriend all the group members, and then to send out a bulletin to alert them to recent activity. It's something I've been meaning to do with mine.

Something for a "Welcome FAQ" ??

Methinks I also have an issue with the disappearance of anything in a group related to a particular member that vanishes when that member leaves.
In Traci's naked friends, the entire "blond moment" thread is gone, probably because Traci was the first of I forget how many posts to that thread.

Unfortuantely it's a system thing, when you delete your profile EVERYTHING about you, including forum posts, is deleted. I don't know if it's a system glich (though I've seen it at a few sites) or if they are trying to comply with privacy laws (Canada has some pretty strict ones, some government task force is even going after facebook over it lol), but it drives me nuts. lol
