One Year!

Yesterday marked one year that we've been on this site. Wow, one year. And what a year it's been! When we joined the site there were just under 2000 members, now there's just under 20,000.

Frankly, after some of the other nudist sites we'd joined I didn't hold out much hope for this one. When Steve told me about it, I think my response was probably along the lines of "yes, dear. Another one of those nudist sites." "But, honey," he may have replied, "this one's different, it was started by a guy, only a few months ago, whois just as tired and exasperated by the other sites as we are. Check out the forum, check out the site, give it a chance". So I did. And he did. Initially he was more involved thanI was. I'd been pretty disgusted by the other sites "we'd" joined. And it took me a little while to really give TN a chance. But I started paying attention when he'd meet people through here and set up times for us to "meet" them via messenger. They were a different quality of people for the most part. Friendlier, more honest and open, more intelligent and, lol, didn't turn the subject to cam sex or picture trading moments after saying hello. They had senses of humor, interesting stories to tell, great information to share.OMG! They were TRUE nudists! And then I started paying attention to the forum threads and posts. And it was the same. Yes, there were some that really just didn't get it, but once again, for the most part, I was reading well thought out posts written by intelligent, thinking, caring, humorous and fun people. I think I read every single one before I posted myself. LOL, and then I became addicted.

I'd been a nudist most of my adult life, I just didn't know it,- always felt perfectly comfortable in the safety of my own home nude. And then Steve took me to a naturist club in upstate New York about 5 or 6 years ago. And hiking to waterfalls in the nude and to my first beach clean-up in the Cape three years ago where we made our first "nudist" friends at Sandy Terraces. And I loved it. But I didn't consider myself a nudist, necessarily. Mainly because I hate labels and "nudist" to me was just another label. And seeing what went on on the other sites made me shun that label even more. But sharing opinions, viewpoints, ideas, information on the TN forum really helped me understand and formulate for me what being a "nudist" was all about.LOL,that includes the opinions and viewpoints I disagreed with. So thank you all here at TN who helped me shed away the layers of misinterpretation and negative connotations that I was clothed in and embrace the"label". Because of you Ican proudly say (hehehe, to most but not all) I AM a NUDIST!

Last spring we took a trip down south for an event on a shoe string budget. That trip was made possiblefor us by a TN couple in North Carolina who opened their home to us and a TN single male in Virginia who hosted us as well. Thank you both for your hospitality and generosity. And a thank you to two of our TN friends in NJ who've also opened their homes and hearts to us. Just last weekend we had the honor of a visit from a TN couple from California. That's one of the things that makes this site so fantastic. True Nudists,True People, True Friends! We have made so many wonderful friends here, some whom we've met in person, some whom we have plans to meet with in the future and some who, though we may never have the opportunity to meet IRL, we've already met in our hearts.

Thank you to all on TN for a wonderful year and a specialthank you to TT1 for creating, maintaining, upgrading, improvingthis site and putting up with every one's moaning, bitching and complaining during growth spurtsand unpopulardecisions. Because of you, TT1, our liveshave becomefuller with some really wonderful people.

Great post Jen & Steve. Just thinking I wonder how many will read this and say, " I've never seen a post like this on any other nudist site :) I know I haven't. Thanks for putting it in writing for others to see and be encouraged by. I feel just the same as you, I've met some great people on here, except I'm still waiting to find some local "like minded" friends to hang out with. Came close a few times, but as I'm not in a position to travel much, options are a bit limited. Think I might use it to start a testimonial thread on the Comp Club forum, I'm sure you won't mind :) Thanks again. p.s. Jackie, you don't wanna go there! come to the UK, and feel the rain!

RE: One Year!

Just been checking out cost of flights from Brisbane Australia to New York....I figure if John can spend money on lap tops,GPS's and a brand spanking state of the art cellphone I can spend the same amount on a trip to NY!!!!!! As long as you can spare some floor space for us to slumber on in an alcohol induced state we are gonna come visit!!!

Jackie, we're so looking forward to your visit. (I snore REALLY loud, though, you may prefer a tent out in the yard after your first night, it might be quieter!) To appease Phil, any chance you can fly here via England? And then fly home via California - I know some TN'ers there who would love to meet you as well.

Thomas, Really hoping we can make it down to Texas someday. Looking forward to having you show us Hippie Hollow and can't wait to taste yellow watermelon and your famous rattlesnake chili!

RE: One Year!

Congrats on one year! Your year (for for me about 9 months) of reading your posts has helped make the transition to really being a nudist a better one. Thank you!
I was kind of thinking the same thing, except about the fact that in December I'll celebrate my one year of openness and candor about my nudity, and then in January it'll be one year for my sweet wife and I as a couple to be nudists. Wow...has this year passed quickly or what!

By the way, Thomas, you're still invited to come meet the great folks at Lone Star some time. I'll tell you from my own experience there...they've been very accepting of single men who come out, especially the ones who make an effort to speak to others and join what the group is doing. I imagine you're pretty outgoing from your posts here and would fit right in. On those occasions where we've been at LSR on a week day, there are almost always 3 or 4 single men who are at the pool correcting tan lines, lol!

RE: One Year!

I am blessed that you are on this site. I have learned much from you, Jen and Steve, about nudism. I enjoy your posts and usually agree with you. Thank you.
I have liked to run around naked for as long as I remember. I first joined TN about in summer of 2008; however at first I was inactive for several months. Then just before Christmas 2008, I decided to get active with the fellowship with nudists.
