Low vision nudist
Okay, a thought. Firstly I am a nudist with friends and on my own. I haven't been to clubs or official beaches.
I have pretty poor eyesight and it will keep declining until I'm blind. Thumbs up, all good. I have had my life to be at peace with that. You see though, if I need to see something I need to pick it up or peer closely. Haha.I don't read name badges because it would look like I was trying to get a close look at people's chests. How do other people with poor eyesight deal with names and faces. To be honest I have to ignore most of what's around me in a new setting because I'd look odd trying to work out what I was looking at.
OK, you're odd. Better to be odd and know who you're talking to, than not.
We have a friend often called Blind Will, like you not white-cane blind, so people don't necessarily know. On introduction, he simply tells people he doesn't see well, asks their name, and asks them to remind him of it if he doesn't recognize them by face next time.

Sounds easier than what I do at the moment which is try and absorb people's silhouette or the way they walk.
It must be difficult for you, Gideon. Perhaps when you see a shaddow of someone and don't know who is there, just say good morning, afternoon or whatever. Soon as they reply, you will know by the voice who is there.
Many people moan about trivial everyday things, but would really have something to complain about if they had to suffer as you and many others who go through life accepting what is.
Chin up and keep smiling.

Haha. Yeap... I do a cheery "G'day". If they're close friends they know I might not recognize them at first. And losing eyesight isn't a biggie. I'm 37 (Happy Birthday to me) and thought things would be a lot worse by now.I was 13 when I last saw individual leaves on a tree... I remember that the leaves would blow on the branches... Flip and sway catching the sun. I miss that kind of stuff. I'm rambling.I'm pretty proud. I don't like showing I have difficulties at times.
Did you know the Royal Society for the Blind sends out letters with photocopied Braille. I laughed when I saw that.Although maybe people have indent machines or something. But photocopies of a Braille letter. That was priceless
