Wear sneakers on the beach today the sand had to be at least 200 degrees. I think I got 3rd degree burns on my toes

Sorry to hear that 6GagePA. Do you normally wear sneakers/flipflops or go barefoot?

I usually wear flip flops but the sand was so hot even with them on

Yea.. The sand as well as most decks get scorching in the sun. You really need to keep some sandals available .. I learned that lesson in my trip to Greece.. Steve

I often have to wear my "KEENS" because the sand can really hurt my feet (as in burn). I won't take off points for ya! Better to protect your feet than not!

thanks for the update. I remember the sand being hot in the past but managed to get to the water in time before any discomfort. That's the good thing about the walk to the beach, many people will be wearing sneakers to get there anyway.

Thats why I sit next to the water. This way I do not have to go very far in my bare feet. If I do explore the beach and hit the back of the beach then I always wear flip flops. Hate when I step on broken sea shells...ouch!!! but the hot sand is much worst.
