The ultimate attempt is bare feet and hands, no chalk, no harness, no rope, no pins. Friends from the University of Calgary, which grants actual mountain climbing degrees, have completed naked free climbs. They are all still alive.
I would never make an ascent without at least chalk and ropes, but it is definitely a thing.
