FINALLY!

I am finally headed to Sandy Hook this weekend. Been trying to plan a trip there for years, and this weekend is it. Just hoping the weather is good. Hate it that it's "off season" but maybe a few people will still be around. Going with a friend who has been there before, but if anyone has any tips / suggestions for someone going there for the first time let me know.

RE: FINALLY!

September is the BEST time to go to Gunnison Beach or anywhere on the shore. It is less crowded. The water is still warm and so is the weather.

3,000? That must be the entire park, not just the naked beach, right?
There was only about a hundred folks when I went to Haulover in February. I know February is way off season for any beach, but this was Miami. The weather was nice.

Really? Thousands? Even after Labor Day... I know pictures aren't allowed, especially not of others, but sometimes one of a willing individual makes it in w/ unrecognizable (i.e., far enough away) people in the background or other distant crowd shot that do not reveal identities are out there. From those pics I always got the sense of their being hundreds of people (maybe), never would have thought a thousand, much less several thousand. Look forward to being in the throngs.

RE: FINALLY!

I've played football in shorts on Christmas Day, and then some years (pretty rare) we will have a "White Christmas." But that's Alabama weather; didn't know that happened in New Jersey too.
GUESS WHAT. I'M HERE! WILL BE AT SANDY HOOK IN ALL MY NAKED PRIDE TOMORROW, MAYBE SUNDAY TOO.

Just left Sandy Hook. Thought I recognized a couple folks, but I was too shy to speak. If you noticed my tats (script Alabama A on left shoulder and an arrowhead on the right, that was me.

RE: FINALLY!

I didn't see anywhere near the 3,000 to 5,000 y'all mentioned. I'm not that good at estimating numbers, but I could agree with a count of 500 when I was there. It was later in the day, like 4 or 5 until 7, and met a lot of people on their way out as we arrived so over a thousand earlier in the day seems likely, maybe a couple thousand. The place was HUGE so I could see it holding the 3K to 5K numbers y'all mentioned, although I have no idea where they would park.
Was gonna go back today, but I've been fighting a minor sinus infection for a couple weeks now. I woke up feeling major cruddy this morning. Will definitely come back next year and visit now that I know the lay of the land and how to plan for the trip. Maybe I'll stay for a whole week or so...

RE: FINALLY!

Cool. I had specifically asked if there were thousands even after Labor Day and got an answer that there were that many even after Labor Day. No biggie. I had a great time, will definitely be back.
