RE: Friends?

Was it Will Rogers that said a stranger was just a friend he hadn't met yet? Maybe in addition to friends list we also need a strangers list for those friends we haven't met yet.

RE: Friends?

We should have two lists. One should be for friends and the other should be for associates.

RE: Friends?

I have a friend, a Friend, here on T.N. and in real life. Over the last 3 or so years we have met 3 times. There was a time of a year or so when I did'nt have a page here (formerly I wasbakyrdndst)and we had no real contact. But last may or June I came back and he was the first person I looked for and found and "FRIENDED" ! Two weeks ago he was in town and treated me to an evening at a Korean/Russion style spa. Now don't get any funky ideas... I am divorcing and he is happily married to a woman ,and a beutiful profile photo do they have. Two dudes shootin the shit at a public/pay for hottubbin sauna havin few hours. Nice

RE: Friends?

The only problem I seem to have is making friends on the internet that live so far away! hahaha
I, too, have made some good friends on the nudist internet sites. We have lots of discussions and written dialog, back and forth, but we haven't met in person yet. It is "my" hope to do some traveling, once my wife retires, and hopefully meet up with some of these friends in places we both would visit a nude venue or ... even if it's just for a cup o Jo.
I've met several people from the internet. Most of them have been good visits and the friendships continued but only on a "meet you at the ... (beach, club, resort)" basis. Those we've become closer friends with and visit each others homes or go to resorts, clubs and beaches together with, we met at those particular places first and not on the net. IN fact, our close nudist friends ... don't even spend much or any time on the internet on these types of sites. They just aren't into them.

I agree, the word is diluted. I didn't watch it but there was a movie a few years ago about a young woman who traveled across the US to meet all of her "friends". I can only guess it was awkward for many. I try to be judicious when managing facebook friends, but it still gets me into trouble. I'd prefer to see terms like 'contacts' or maybe something as strong as 'buddies' or 'pals'.
