Nudists, Cats and Windows
So, I have an odd question...I like to be nude around my home, but I also have a cat who loves looking out the window. Since I live in a rather urban area, I'm quite nervous about the neighbors looking in and getting offended. Any ideas on how I can let my kitty look out without letting the rest of the world look in?
Depends on your window coverings and whether or not the cat usesone particular window or many windows, to look out of. We used to have a cat and we have mini blinds. We'd just lift the mini blinds up enough for the cat to sit or lay on the window sill and look out. The only time this may have become a problem, was at night.
During the day, if it's darker inside your homeand is sunnyoutside, people outside can't see very clearly, if at all, into your home. We've experimented with this and found that we can have our blinds open fully and still, those on the sidewalk can't see in. At night, however, when it's dark out and you have lights on inside ... they can see quite clearly. We found that our cat didn't do any "nighttime" window sitting so we just kept the blinds to the street side of the house closed, at night.
Our cat spent more time at the sliding glass door, then he did at any window. Curtains can be "pinned" so they give you privacy and allow the cat the ability to look out. There are plenty of things to do but not knowing specifics on your home makes it difficult to give you specific remedies. Good luck. : )

Odd but understandable. There are various ways round this problem. Firstly try drawing your curtains part way leaving them a relatively small gap for the cat to sit in. Leave lights off until you actually need them when you should draw your curtains.
Identify the ACTUAL issue by going outside and looking in to see just what you can see. Generally unless people get pretty close to your windows they won't see much at all especially above ground level. At night you will probably draw your curtains anyway. You need to keep a robe handy just in case someone happens to knock. Obviously if you go close to the windows to look out the outside world can see you. May be consider net curtains which let light in and give you 90% privacy.
I have nets on the front of the house and vertical blinds round the back. With nets you need to get your nose up against the outside glass to see anything in daylight with no lights on. With blinds you can tilt the sails to provide privacy at whatever level you feel safe and again even with the sails at right angles the image is broken enough to be obscured. Open the centre a few inches to allow the cat see out.
Finally as a nudist you need to be less self conscious and accept that at times you WILL PROBABLY BE SEEN by others. Most of these others won't care and you have to get used to not caring that much either. That doesn't mean being totally brazen just more relaxed about being natural. When you go to a nude beach you will be seen by 100's of people not all of whom will be fellow nudists.
If you can arrange a window covering - and it could be anything from curtains to a bookshelf or the back of the couch - that's at least five or six inches back from the window, then the cat can sit on the "outside" side of the covering for the view, and your privacy inside is still complete.
