RE: Earthquake Preparedness

I agree, has anyone here had any experience setting up a solar power system? Where does one obtain the components, how difficult is it to set up?

Mother Earth News has been the best source of information since 1970.

Thank you Thomas for reminding me of Mother Earth news. I will visit on the web, but I think it will be fun to dig through the crap in my barn. I know I have one of their early catalogs out there. It's off to the way
back machine! I agree it is difficult to sort through the info on solar on the web.

Before you gather all your tempting belongings, go buy several guns and lots of ammo. The UNprepared will be hungry.Johnny,we are only talking about 72 hours after an earthquake, NOT survival for the rest of your life from a nuclear attack.

You trust and expect all 76,900 people to calmly and politely set and wait for three days without food and water while you eat and drink your unprotected stash. What would happen if the aftermath of the earthquake lasted 73 hours or more? At what point does the old survival instinct kick in? I trust my guns more than I trust the thin veneer of civilization.

AND, after three days without sleep, I swam across a river half frozen over with ice. I am very adept at survival.

I prefer to believe that an emergency tends to bring community together, rather than bringing out the nasty gunplay that has been suggested. Hard time bring people together.
