? TRAVEL TO AND FROM CAP D'AGDE ?
I'm planning a ten-day holiday in Cap d'Agde during 2014. I was there in early 2013 and travelled by car from the UK, but would like to travel by air, rail or coach this time. Air travel is irregular, rail travel is convenient but expensive, and coach travel is lengthy but cheap. What woud you advise ?
If you get budget flight tp Sete, it would be most convenient of course, but Montpellier and Beziers OK, too if convenient transfers too. Probably cheapest if booking early enough or slightly off-season.
Otherwise car is fine, but require enough times for transfers in order not to wear out while driving there and back. Major advantage that excursions and shopping outside the nude area made a lot easier, as the best grocery deals in Intermarche, Lidl, Hyper U etc, which all at least few km away around the bypass road and commercial areas of Agde ville.
Train has an advantage of being able to step out in Agde ville station, less than 10 km away from the nude area, comparative advantage in distance to planes for sure.
Coach connection I am not well informed about, so no comments to price or comfort.
That again depends where on the continent you will land and whether you wanna take motorways with toll fees or not. Toll motorways easiest and fastest option but on some routes they can be avoided a lot, too.
Best is to use sites like viamichelin.com where you can feed in your driving habits. My driving habits as well as speed depend a lot on my mood as well as time available and company in the car, so there is no uniformal way. In general on French motorways outside rush days you easily make average speed over 100 km/h + breaks and on busy days lining up on toll booths, which often far too frequent.
From Dover-Calais ferry shortest is Paris - Orleans - Bourges - Clermont-Ferrand - Millau - Agde - Cap d'Agde, but if you land in Paris in rush hour possibly western de-tour via Reims-Troyes-Dijon-Lyon-Nimes-Montpellier would be more comfortable. Driving time with no major breaks is over 10 hrs, but how much over, depends on your speed.

When are you heading there? I am planning on doing the whole coast line of france/spain and wanting to spend a solid week at cap dagde.
Hi, most of the internet information says that flying into one of the nearby airports and than train into Agde and from there taxi to any places. I recommend go to the all nude village in cap d'agde. A fantastic place where you can be nude all day and most of the night.I will be there in August 2014 (13th - 15th). Can't wait. cheers
