No one is going to disagree with any god that you worship that makes you hate less. That is a good thing. The old testament God can be quite a fearsome and unforgiving thing. But then we got his son, Jesus, and he was so compassionate and caring and condemned no one.

I've wrestled with the God of the old and the God of the new and to me they are the same as I believe in the Trinity. But how are they seemingly so different? Do you understand why?

Old vs new God is not an issue for me. These books were written in their times and in their social environments to share and teach the people of that time. It is not perfect so I step back and ask is there a God. Yes. Was Jesus who He said He was. Yes. What does God/Jesus want from us. Two things. Believe and accept Him. Love each other.
Everything else is details. We just need to accept each other and get along. None of us are perfect and all of us are loved by God. No matter how someone annoys or hurts us if we let go and just accept that there is diversity in all creation than life is good.
